Romantic notions of "one team players" went out the window when players started getting paid. I think that one team players is actually the exception. Players are commodities and clubs don't think twice about trading away players to suit them. Why shouldn't a player feel the same level of loyalty?
I have absolutely no issue with Jolly, nor any Swan, they give 100% on and off the field. Jolly has been fantastic for us. I wish him well.

I walked into the 2005 Grand Final dinner with Jolly. I said "I guess you're happy about coming from Melbourne now Darren?" and he replied "Melbourne? Who are they?" And laughed. I suspect he may have the same attitude about the Swans by now.

Thanks for 2005 Darren - and thanks for nothing for 2006. You played very well for us this year and we're grateful for that. But now, if Baz wins a Premiership with the Doggies I'll be very happy - as long it's not against us. But I'd be equally happy if Darren never plays another winning game with his new team.

Jolly made his statements as a last jesture of gratitude to the Swans. It's his way of making sure that supporters don't cry for too long and are revved up for a proper barricking when we take on Colllingwood.

Im with you on this one. Why do we somehow expect footballers to be one club players yet in our working lives people rarely stay with the same company throughout and most are quite happy to jump ship for more money OR a better chance of promotion or success.

Footballers careers are in the majority less than ten years and so it shouldnt come as a surprise that they will change at least once or twice in that time and I know as a Sydney boy that if I was traded to a melbourne club I would probably like to come back at some stage especially if my wife was homesick and had a young family.

Because Jolly was king in Sydney with no-one near his equal. People change jobs, but they don't apply for demotions willingly.

I guess it's the nature of the job. When you see the players running out onto the ground, you want them absolutely committed to their club, and see the other team as nothing but the enemy, so that they exert every last ounce of physical and mental effort to drive them into the ground. When a player leaves, it makes you question if they ever were truly committed. Is that unreasonable? Very. But as fans, that's what we want, it's how we see things.
