Could of said Bevan but then I wouldn't have known who I was offending. At least this way it was pretty clear cut.

Correct. Barlow's got a long, long way to go before he achieves anywhere near what Davis has.

Leave Ed alone. He may run round and round in circles doing not much at all but at least when he gets the ball he kicks it forwards. A player whose first thought is to kick the ball backwards, or second kick it sideways or third hold on to it until every player up the ground is manned up is the one that drives me crazy.

Very very tough but here I go....

            FB: Mattner C.Bolton Grundy

            HB: Smith LRT Shaw

Think that back line is a lock. Four players who can play tall, one small forward tagger and the other a runner

            C: Kennedy Kirk Kennelly

KKKs Need leg speed on the wings; Kennedy gets a go first up and Kennelly is relieved of his defensive duties so he can run all day

            HF: J.Bolton Goodes Jetta

Goodes is the lead up player. Bolton applies the defensive pressure and Jetta gives us the spark

            FF: White Bradshaw Jack

White and Bradshaw are locks (assuming he is in) and Jack will savour his freedom up forward

            RUCKS: Mumford McVeigh ROK

            Again, a lock...

            BENCH:

            Seaby
            Extra ruck

            Bird
            Extra inside mid

            McGlynn
            Tagger

            Vezpremi/ Hannerbery
            Who knows???

            UNLUCKY
Malceski Richards Moore Bevan Barlow O'Dwyer Pyke Currie D-L

              Bevan is hardly frustrating.

Some find it frustrating that he continually gets picked, but Bevan himself is not frustrating.

He is just about the most predictable player in the squad in so much as you know he will always give 100%, will occasionally get shown up totally by gun forwards such as Steve Johnson, but is just as likely to back into a pack and totally put his body on the line for the good of the team.

Barlow on the other hand appears to jog around at half pace and almost appear disinterested, ala Dale Lewis.

I'm open to the Cheese, I remember defending him vigorously for a game late in the season at Homebush where he tried his butt off, very un-Barlow like, but things just didn't happen.

Agree with others though, he is far from a walk up start for Rd 1. He brains them in pre-season running events every year, his dominance on the track is nothing new.

How about we avoid both types?

I think it is only Barlow's height keeping him in the team atm. At 196cm and 99kg he should be crashing into and through packs, not trying to dance around them,

Kennelly will be in the back 6. It's fair enough to take someone who has played aussie rules their whole life and plonk them on a wing, but the fact is Kennelly learnt to play on the HB line and excelled there...seems the standard for the Irish boys ATM, can't see him named anywhere else...he is 28 as well.

                      Agree with the rest though.

Thought I'd kill a bit of time over the holidays by having a crack at the 2010 line up.

FB: Nick Smith Craig Bolton Heath Grundy

HB: Martin Mattner LRT Tadhg Kennelly

FF: Daniel Bradshaw Jesse White Trent Dennis-Lane

Rucks: Shane Mumford Jude Bolton Brett Kirk

I/C: Mark Seaby Dan Hannebery Ben McGlynn Keiran Jack

The unlucky players I couldn't squeeze in are: Thornton, Meredith, Malceski, O'Dwyer, Veszpremi and Bird.

Players to possibly make way for these 6 include: Bevan, TD-L, Hannebery & McGlynn.

I would pull out Rohan (would be very lucky to play seniors this year) and put in any of your emergencies instead.

Why are so many people still listing ROK as a forward flanker?

He just won a Skilton Medal as a mid-fielder and all off-season reports point to him continuing in that role.

Lack of depth in the forward line, was the concern for me, not sure about others, but that's what I thought anyway.
