Definitely agree that MOD should be in the team too.Comment

Personally, without reading a whole lot of others, I would go:
B: Richards Bolton Mattner
HB: Kennelly LRT Malceski
C: Shaw Kirk Hannebery
HF: O'Keefe Goodes Bolton
F: White Bradshaw Bevan
Fol: Seaby McVeigh Jack
Int: Mumford, Grundy, Barlow, Bird
Emg: Moore, Smith, Meredith
Random thoughts:
That back line would have to be the tallest we have had in some time.
I really hope Malceski can break that mental barrier and, at the very least, become a player who is damaging with only a dozen touches.
I have not been a massive fan of Bevan throughout his career, but I think he deserves a shot in the forward line as a defensive pocket. He could give the opposition's best rebounder a torrid time as he would work his guts out. If this fails, bring in a young speedster.
Grundy could be used as a utility and free up a half back, or release O'Keefe into the midfield.
I personally see Barlow as an elite running midfielder and not a key position player; much like a Goodes-type midfielder. He just needs to drink a couple of cups of concrete before each game.
I am a massive fan of Bird. He is our next extractor.
I am looking forward most to seeing Meredith and Hannebery get some game time. I am quite surprised, despite his Schneider-esque build, Hannebery has been mentioned a few times as one of the better running performers. If he has the tank to be top 4 in pre-season training, I would love to see him start the season on the wing.C'mon Chels!Comment

I've been pondering this for a while, and I think the task is made more difficult by the imposition of positions no one plays anymore. So, I've had a crack at naming 22 players in more realistic roles... i.e. these guys are picked to pay roles and they are either on or off the bench through rotations, but there is no bench per se.
Backs:
Talls: Richards, Bolton, LRT
Mids: Mattner, Grundy, Smith
Running linkman: Shaw, Kennelly
Emergencies: Veszpremi
Mids:
Inside: Bird, Kennedy, Kirk,
Outside: McVeigh, O'Keefe, Hennebery (Get it)
Taggers: Jack
Rucks: Mumford, Seaby
Emergencies: Meredith, McGlynn
Forwads:
Talls: Goodes, White, Bradshaw
Defensive: Bevan,
Crumbing: Moore
Emergencies: Dennis-Lane
Utilities:
Barlow

I will beat Jewels this time - No Jude???????
Maybe put Jack up fwd in place of Moore and the B1 can have a go in the middle.
The rest, I would be happy if this was the team that started Rnd01. (I reserve the right to change my opinion after the Ansett Cup)

It's interesting that most people are leaving him out of the round 1 side but if he's fit I can't see Vesz being left out of the side. Likewise, if Dan Currie is training the house down he'll could be the bolter and take a bench spot in front of Mumford / Seaby.
A lot will depend on NAB Cup / practice match form."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

He played a lot of junior football there. Maybe they're going to mould him into a Luke Hodge type?

A Luke Hodge type of player in our team would be very handy indeed. Maybe, it'll give him fitness to play in the midfield?
I read somewhere that Daniel Currie is training quite well.Comment

Every time I doodle a possible Rd1 lineup, I'm amazed at the number of plausible possible line ups and the number and quality of players that I can't fit in.
If everyone stays fit we're going to have a super strong reserves team even given the player restrictions.
How many players total can we have in the ACT team each game? What will happen if we have players fit who are in excess of the 22 AFL plus 12? ACT requirements?Comment

Reading between the lines we have recruited to improve the midfield, and I would expect other players to get elevated time in the midfield, and Jude being one of the older players and a proven slow coach, will likely spend a lot more time warming the bench.
The midfield ranks is looking like a mad scramble for spots, so hopefully he will have to earn his spot through form and not credits.Comment

There's no logical explanation for not starting Jude on the ground. I'll probably get shot down for this, but I'd start him ahead of Kirk every time. He's just had one of his best seasons and I personally believe he's more valuable to us now than he ever was before.
Kirk is possibly in his last season in 2010 and Jude will then be the senior midfielder along with McVeigh, showing the way for guys like Jack, Hannebery, Bird and Meredith as their game develops.Comment
