Others watch far more reserves football than me but my observation is that Currie is a true footballer, good to excellent tap ability, has the nous around the ground and ability to play forward. Would beat one of our current ruckmen hands down on all those attributes.

I don't buy the excuse that he's not physically ready. If Kruezer can play in his first season then there surely is no reason why Currie can't in his third.

Whatever the likes of Currie, Vesz and O'Dwyer have done to get on the wrong side of Roos I'd like to know!

Currieis not ready between the ears as regards his core beliefs about his ability to play at the top level. He needs to come to my Thursday morning group sessions.

I think Bird will be straight back when fit..easily in our best 22. Who gets dropped for him I leave to the selectors, but I also have a feeling that ROK will be subject to more than a passing glance from Nathan and his team this week. His kicking has gone to pot, and his wide shot at goal sat was untypical of him at his normal abilities. Something in groin , I'll bet.

I get to watch the ressies regularly and I believe bringing Currie in against Sandilands would destroy him totally. Nothing to do with physicality, but as Satch said, it's between the ears.
He has all the ability in the world and has all the markings of a very competent ruckman, but he lacks self belief and implodes when things don't go his way.

            Out: Playfair, Bevan, Jetta

Suddenly our forward line looks a lot stronger!

              (I love being quoted).

And here is the other one! Agree wholeheartedly. Wish we could dose him with a bit of Hanners......

What sort of implosion are we talking about? Anger? sooking? Could some of it be related to 4 years of injuries coupled with 0 senior games?

I am guessing you guys are right of course, or he probably would have been picked ahead of the project player Pyke, but I don't know, sometimes the deep end can be a good place to find your feet.

but wouldnt currie perhaps offer more as a tall forward option than playfair?? would of been better than bevan coming in.

He could go in the ruck when sandilands is off? (though rarely goes off) or just in small patches to keep the confidence up. Im all for getting the young guys in but surely he is not that fragile? wouldnt getting a game be a boost for currie?

Sounds like it comes down to a choice between confidence and limited ability and genuine ability and limited confidence.

It's neither anger nor sooking, it's a complete loss of self belief. From what I've seen, my thoughts are that the deep end would result in drowning!
Primmy is spot on, if they could inject him with some Hanners, he could be a real beauty!

Keep Jetta and get rid of Richards. Otherwise I agree.

i dont think pyke looks that confident himself, must be a hard learning curve for him. Though i guess we have never heard an official comment that currie is in the reserves so as not to dent his confidence against sandilands etc

I thought Playfair did okay. Took a couple of contested marks and got a handful of possessions, which is more than White has done all season.

Doing more than White has done all season, even if I agreed with that, is still not doing well.....and I don't agree.
