    2010 Delistings & Retirements

Whilst we are blissfully enjoying our time in the finals I notice that the retirements and delistings have commenced at other clubs.

Kaptain Kirk is our only retirement this year?

Who do you think on our list is on shaky delisting ground or won't get a rookie extension?

Henry Playfair is a retirement this year also.

craig boltonn still hasnt announced a contract extention. If his achillies doesnt come up i guess he is a chance to retire this year with his best mate kirky.

That would be sad, losing both Kirk and C Bolton to retirement. I hope you're wrong, C Bolton deserves a better way to end his career.

We still have to draft a minimum of three but I think one of these can be used on the Pyke elevation. However a minimum of three off the senior lost. So far we have Kirky but 2 to go.

I'd say Thornton and Barlow delisted. That would make 3. Trades? anyones guess. I don't think Swans will trade unless there was a very good player available.

The Swans should do a Bucky pick up on Barlow. Delist him then draft him. Did wonders for Bucky.

Doubt they would do that with Barlow - I mean just how long can we give him to get his game together? We are probably going to delist Thornton, Barlow and Orreal, lose Kirky and maybe Craig, and I think the resignation of Henry and elevation of Mike (or was it Nipper?) cancel each other out. Don't think we have much in the way of trade bait at this stage, except perhaps Curry, but even that I doubt very much. I anticipate they will hang on to their list except for my estimated delistings etc. Cannot see anyone going to the Suns except perhaps Ves and that would probably be if they could get a good draft pick.

But if we upgrade some of the scholars or perhaps Dill for instance, where would that leave us?

Of course this is all personal opinion, and has no basis whatsoever, except my ability to read peoples palms.

I think the rules are that you must make three changes to your senior list, that is retire/delist three and pick up three either through the draft, trading in or a combination of both. You don't have to draft three at the National Draft.

you have to weigh up whether you think the guy you draft with your 3rd pick (around 55) and 4th pick (around 70) are likely to be better players than say O'dwyer, thornton, barlow, who ever is next in line to be delisted. Going from last years draft pick 54 and 55 were TDL & Sumner with guys like Micky Barlow falling through to the rookie draft.

To be honest it seems very unlikey that any if those guys if kept will be long term quality AFL players, while pick 55 or 70 could well be, just look at tdl.

So on that reasoning i think that kirk (retired), thornton, barlow, o'dwyer will be delisted with pyke promoted to the senior list leaving us with 3 picks in the draft around 22, 39 and 56 (assuming we beat the doggies and loose to the saints).

The club is sitting on some contract news to announce. Finals got in the way, so sit tight & wait & see

Correct, rookie elevations can be counted.

I've started making a list of trade/draft rules & explanations in the RWO Wiki for your viewing pleasure.

If anyone has feedback or modifications to suggest, please let me know or feel free to make changes as you please.

Rookie elevations can be counted as one of the three mandatory changes, but only as one of the three regardless of how many rookie elevations you make.

I spoke with B2 last Saturday night and asked him directly if he's retiring this year.
                        He said NO.

(Hope he's not just saying that to keep me happy!!)
