I think we have a good chance. Our guys will be fired up to perform well against the premiers. And John Longmire has never lost against the Pies. Also, we have nothing to lose and used to win the big games. It'll be fun if we do - we'll be instant flag contenders in the eyes of the Melbourne media.

Depends on who turns up to play. Its NAB cup, anyone can win.

Not sure if you are referring Longmire the player, or Longmire the coach. The player played 15 Senior AFL against the Pies for the Kangaroos during the 1990's, being in 7 winning games, 7 losing ones, and a single draw.

The coach. Though one P Roos might like to add his playing games against the Pies in to get his average up?

Well, thats the case here, it is a free ticket(sort of), one of the Vic based membership's features is free entry to ALL NAB cup games, including the Grand final. If I could be bothered trecking all across the country, I could actually go to every single NAB cup game for free. So if the swans are playing in Melbourne, at Etihad Stadium, which is literally a 15 min WALK from my house, and its free entry, even though its against Collingwood, I'll be there.

Good call. We'll be thoroughly "tested" (ie, belted) but this is a much better match up for us than another of the weaker teams.

Agree, we will really see whether the likes of sumner , lamb , johnstone etc are ready to make the step up to seniors this weekend.

I will definitely be there. Only play 3 games in Melbourne in the first half of the season and I'm probably going to miss 2 of those.

Very much looking forward to a live game, win, lose or draw.

                        Is this a proper game?

As in length, obviously the rules will be stupid.

Put all the young ones in, give them a taste of playing at Melbourne against a black and white crowd. Invaluable experience. IMHO it's not worth risking a senior player to injury, chance or no chance of beating the Pie's.

It's an opportunity to see who really has what it takes to compete at this level.

Joey K should be rested, saw him roll his ankle and getting it taped last week, I just hate losing a vital player at this stage of the year!!

Quarters may be a little shorter than normal. Rules not much different to home and away. At least they have shunted that silly out on the full rule to the scrap heap.

Due to a lack of funds, I'm going to have to resort to watching the game on TV.
Does anyone know what time they set up the merch stalls etc on the footbridge? If they're set up after work, maybe I'll swing by and pick up my membership cap on the way home.
