Seven may show it on a digital channel in the northern states now that the Swans are involved, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Damien I dont have Foxtel...........is this a channel that a pub has to pay for seperately ??

      thanks Liz

plse ignore my message to Damien

I wrote mine before seeing answers above....

when I went to this link it said pay per view http://www.foxtel.com.au/whats-on/ch...nt/default.htm

So I was concerned if I went down to the pub they might not show the game on 518 if pay per view etc

      Cheers

Your conclusion was understandable AG. It is the same channel that is used for pay-per-view events, but they also use it to stream some free content. I think it is the one channel they have )within the sports suite, anyway) for which they can split the signal and send programming to some areas and not others. (They could do that with the old Fox Footy Channel but not the current mainstream sports channels.) They use it to provide the northern states viewers with live access to the Friday night and some Saturday night AFL games - a godsend to anyone who lives in Sydney and is interested in watching lots on non-Swans footy without having to stay up well beyond midnight.

Will there be an official midnight game thread?

I was going to have a moan about how Channel 518 isnt HD, but then that would probably annoy the unlucky ones amongst us who don't have Foxtel. I am so glad I got it a few years ago - I get to see every AFL game, which is quite useful for Dream Team research, especially in the pre-season.

Hope the boys put up a good show tonight - I am not so much concerned about the outcome, but more the process in who does what and who plays well etc...

I doubt it would be in HD anyway (regardless of which channel it is on) as it is a Channel 7 broadcast.

Excuse my ignorance but can anyone tell me how main event works? My dad has a Business info and sport foxtel package in his office (where we were going to go to watch the game) and he has fox sports 1, 2 and 3 but doesn't seem to have main event - would that be correct?

Just pop it on channel 518. That's the channel they usually have the pay per view shows on, however it is occasionally hijacked for the footy in NSW

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Comes up as needing to broaden his subscription - guess it's midnight for me too!

Think it displays that message till the actual game starts from previous experience.

Not for me, it doesn't. There is a programme showing on the channel right now.

He only has a business info + sport package so i'd say it's just the limit of his subscription - we're not allowed foxtel at home because apparently i watch too much football as it is!

Thats the whole point of Foxtel! And when there's no footy you can watch quality stuff like Jerry Springer, Cops, Wife Swap and Toddlers and Tiaras.... I so get my money's worth from my subscription each month....
