I haven't read a post, but can't believe this craps gone on for 10 pages.

Horse's job is as safe as.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Also...to play Devil's Advocate....we would be wanting a coach who can get these player to play like that nearly every week......without the outside stimulus we had this week. I wouldn't be sheeting this all home to the coach just yet. :-)

I don't think Longmire is a bad coach pers?. I do believe that he does not have the respect of the playing group.
It doesn't matter if Longmire calls the shots and they are not adhered to/followed on the field.

I think this goes deeper than players not being able to play (we all know they are better than what they dished up today) - I think this goes deeper than Longmire not being able to coach. I think someone has got their knickers in a knot and it's either the playing group or the coaching group. This needs to be fixed before the end of the season! If that costs us a coach so be it. If this costs us assistant coaches, so be it. But if it costs us exciting young players to other teams (GWS included) because they don't want to play for "the boss", then we have more problems for years to come.

Fix it. Now. The Swans have no other choice. If I didn't like my boss, I'd be looking for a new job too!
This is what I said in post 77 and it was greatly ignored ... They weren't playing for Longmire today and you all know it - They were playing for Jarrad, Clementine and Luella ... and if you doubt that, have a look at Hannebery at the end of the game ... This is not a silly thread at all ... It asks a valid question regardless of how many people don't like the question being asked.

I was one who was critical of his appointment, but for me, with the cattle he has, he is doing pretty well.

I've said all along that we have a developing team here which means bumps along the way. The difference between our best and worst will be enormous at this stage in our evolution. To have a thread calling into question the coaches position in the first year of his appointment of a team such as this is plainly ridiculous.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I believe there were threads calling into question the process of his appointment. I believe there are threads, rubbishing young players TDL, Jesse White, Jetta etc ... You may think it is ridiculous to call into question a coaches position (in his first year, Roos almost didn't get past 7 matches) - I think it is a valid thread. You do not have to agree with it, and the floor is open for you to bring out your arguments against. You have that right. But please stop this inane "first year coach' argument - it is meaningless. Back up why he is so good so we can throw it back at you in 12 months or so, just like you will be able to do to me when I say he is as useless as tits on a bull. He does not have the respect of the players and he never will, no matter what he does. He should go back to Corowa/Rutherglen - They love him there - He should coach them in the Murray River League. He might get somewhere. Might.

What evidence do you have that he doesn't have the respect of the players?? (Don't mention the photo or I will throw up).

                              Playing Kennelly is bad selection.

Having Bird as a sub is weird.

Then tell us, oh Oracle, who exactly doesn't respect Longmire and why? Your argument about 'motivation' is bull. If the only thing that motivates our players is the passing away of a baby girl, that is a very sad indictment on the club. The coach IMO, should not have to motivate the boys to play and if the boys don't try, they themselves are solely culpable.

There is nothing wrong with questioning a coaches ability, and Longmire should not be excluded from valid criticism merely becasue he is a first year coach. He's clearly made some blunders in terms of player selection, matchday tactics ect.

However, nothing this year has suggested to me that he is incapable of leading this team to success. The gameplan he has stands up. Listen to the players every week: 'If we follow the gameplan we can compete with every club in the competition'. How many times has that been proven this year? Longmire has also been incredibly successful with his introduction of young players and has very smoothly seen through the transition of this club from the Kirk/Roos era.

We've been spoilt at this club too long. Whingers.
