Had a great day at the SCG on Saturday. Flew up from Melbourne on the Saturday morning and was concerned about the weather/state of ground. But was surprised, other than a brief shower or two, it was sunny and the ground was in top shape.
The SCG is easily the best viewing ground in the AFL and although only 20,000 there, seemed like more. With all the red and white in the crowd, I loved every moment of it.
Had great seats - lower level, 5 rows from the front just to the right of the interchange bench.
Great that you can get a heavy beer (can't at the games I've been to in Melb), so had several. Goodes and Jack were magnificent. Love the way Reid presents and thought Bird was very good.
Shaw's kicking in the first half was deplorable and I gave him a word of advice when he came off. Mattner's short kick across goal in the second quarter was a shocker. It stopped our momentum and the doggies kicked 2 or 3 in a row as a result. Other than that, I thought we were very good.
Will be back up to Sydney again in 2012.

Does anyone know how much money the club has available to fly B.T. Dunstall AND Plugger to Sydney for the whole of the next pre season to work 3 on 1 with Reidy?? But, seriously who is our set shot coach....'cos we badly need a new one!!! Come back Nicky D all will be forgiven when Reid gets the Coleman!"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

When Pyke is fully fit, who would be a better ruck/full forward - Pyke or LRT?
I'm thinking Pyke ... but maybe that's just cause I like himComment

They've both shown that they can ruck and go forward. I think LRT has been surprisingly effective, but I'd hope that was a stop-gap measure and they'll put him back where he belongs when the forward line starts to function properly. Pyke is great in the ruck and can kick straight; really hope we see more of him soon.Comment

This thread needs a boo for Barry ....
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Almost out of my system.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

For us locals, the SCG has been an arduous slog all season - woeful weather and (mostly) bad results! When the previous highlights include a 10 point win (all points!!) over the Tigers and a belting of Port, there has been very little to celebrate up here of late! Fortunately their form on the road has been the best in years!
Glad you had a great time - it is what going to the footy is all about. If you'd come a week earlier, you'd have left with high blood pressure and steam coming out of your ears! Well, we did anyway!Comment

Thanks ABM. I was watching Goodes in awe at the game but great to see it compacted into that. He was everywhere and just kept finding space.Comment

To LRTs credit he has improved every week he plays up their and seems to be kicking around 2 goals a game (Im sure someone who knows the stats better will be able to give his average since when he has held down this role). As I have stated in previous threads , 2 goals a game is a better average than Dawes and i imagine would be better than Browns.
The problem is that many here expect him to hold down a ruck / key position role and to be as adequate at both as someone who plays those roles all the time.Comment
