How cool was it to put some points on the board in the third quarter.
A great win.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Horse's phone call was right - they put in 4 quarters today. The first wasn't pretty as the rain hung around and the dogs did have a bit of a flurry in the second, but our lads were putting it together more and more as the match went on. Dogs missed a few sitters than could have changed the momentum but we still would have got the win.
Very pleased to get a win in damp conditions because the only SCG games I've been able to make this season were Geelong, Carlton and Freemantle - all wet losses.Comment

Well just to back my previous point I was at Leichhardt tonight where only 10,100 turned up where 18,000 would have been expected. The rain during the week has that effect...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Yeah, that was a bit of a downer Scotty, we were moaning about it on the train on the way home.
Adam Goodes was at his brilliant best, finishing with a career-high 34 possessions, 10 marks and two goals, while Kieren Jack, the returning Jude Bolton and Craig Bird (career-best four goals) all stood out.
Almost everytime Godsey touched the ball (notice how I just re-christened him), something good happened.
He was on fire today - and as happy as larry (at the aftermatch function). It seems like something big has been lifted from his shoulders.
It'll be between Godsey and Walker for big points on Marngrook this week. Could get Godsey back up the top - where he belongs.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I am pleased enough with the win. However our goal kicking remains depressingly poor and unless we fix it there will be other games we will throw away when we are clearly the better side. Anyway very happy with the side, we just need to turn around our kicking and how we enter the forward fifty and we could yet upset essendon or geelong on the way in.Comment

If you call a structure banging the ball in & expecting to either get goals from marks or crumbing, ok we have a structure. We are still a long way from the type of structure that wins premierships. 34 scoring shots for how many goals, 16 still it could have been worse I suppose. We set up better in the second half & players hit targets a lot of those were mids drifting down. We can't rely on mids to kick a winning score every week. The goal kicking is still atrocious & needs to be addressed.
If Parker gets dropped this week I will be ropeable & might just think about following GWS next year! I might think about it!! I probably won't do it but gee some of the selection decisions this year are baffling. Tadhg should go down for some r&r in the resies next week.
Benny was good this week & releasing him into the mid has been a good move one of the few this mob have made but of course there is a precedent, he played there for the Hawks.
That GWS remark is puzzling. No supporter I know would ever say that regardless of how cranky they were...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Yeah i agree. Very happy with the win but I hope we work on these things. A couple of times, Benny/Jets/Joey had all the time in the world to hit a target and we just loaded up. We could have absolutely drilled them in the 3rd if we used the ball more efficiently. Still happy though : )
A player of his experience shouldn't being doing this kind of thing as much as he does.Comment

That may of been as a result of not having Jude in the side for a few weeks, dishing it out for him.
Also could of been the instruction from the coaches just to get the ball moving on a damp track. If conditions worsened he would of gotten a dozen pats on the back from you lads.
Having those quick handballs out of contested situations is all about knowing your own midfield and I would imagine that with the injuries to Jack, Mummy and Jude combined with Goodes spending 50% of his time forward our communication isn't as perfect as some of the other midfield groups out there. All of this is remedied with time of course. If O'Keefe is still doing it in a few weeks on a flat, dry track you can get stuck right into him.Comment

Our kids are going to be magnificent.
I was a big fan of Jets' game today. He's developing, but the signs are there of a truly A-grade outside midfielder. Needs to work on his positioning, that's why he goes missing I think. He's working at the defensive stuff too, body just needs to get there but he'll be fine on that front.Last edited by R-1; 24 July 2011, 03:07 AM.Comment
