I think what blows me away the most about Sam holding onto those contested marks is that he still so, so skinny- obviously has a huge frame, and his brother has certainly put muscle on so you'd expect Sam will probably be able to do the same- but to be able to actually hold onto them without quite carrying a pair of fully loaded guns to get a vice like grip really is impressive. God only knows how sore the guy must be the day after a game, though.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Can't believe he's going to be 32 in January. Ran around like he was a spritely 25 year old yesterday!!Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

I agree.He is learning that role and getting himself in the right place. He rarely leads and still does the one on one wrestle to get the ball but he is good at it from years of playing in the backlines. With Reid and LRT we are starting to get a semblance of structure too. The whole team lifted for 4 quarters so great efforts from Bird ,Goodes ,Jack etc won us the game. The Dogs could not punish us for early stuff ups whereas against a top 4 side Shaw's first 5 kicks might have seen us 3 goals down.We gotta watch our delivery particularly early. Today the Swans lived up to their potential!Comment

LRT played his best rucking game of the year IMO. Then went forward and kicked a couple. Despite not getting heaps of touches each game, he's doing his role very well atm (his dropped mark in the pocket was a bit embarrassing though, had everyone laughing where I was). Providing a target up forward to take pressure of Reid and doing the job in the ruck. I like Parker up forward too even though he didn't get a heaps of it. Locks the ball in and chases hard. Clever disposer of the ball too. I think we finally have some sort of structure up forward now.
F: Parker LRT Goodes
HF: McGlynn Reid Jetta
That was the forward line at stages and I thought it worked really well (with Bird of course).Comment

..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Only 19 449 at the SCG today, which is a shame. Lots of reasons though:
#1 lousy (again) weather
#2 not wanting to leave the ground wanting to punch something (my reason after last week);
#3 (or maybe =#2), protest against the umpiring last week
#4 the goodbyes had already been said - apart from 'don't let the door smack you in the arse on the way out' - another one wasn't really needed
#5 dread of a season killing loss
#6 marketing misfire of Horse calls during the week(?)
Others? Thoughts people? A crowd of sub 20k is a big concern for the club, and should be for the AFL (if they took their heads out of their arses long enough to take any notice)Today's a draft of your epitaphComment
