This is a game which needs to be watched on tv. So much was happening that I missed up in the gods, I had no idea how much work Peb was doing, etc. For a bit of a frustrating game to watch from the stands, it is a pretty good one to watch on replay.

Bless those shoulders; AJ needs more cudos; whoda thort Birdy would be so "14"; Luke reminds me a bit of Jonathon Brown - not much self preservation in his game. Satisfying all round.

However, I think Tadgh is now starting to play like a senior whose body is not allowing him to do what he used to be able to do.

That GWS remark is puzzling. No supporter I know would ever say that regardless of how cranky they were.
Structures are actually just a modern word for set plays especially around stoppages. It is so misused on this forum it has lost it's meaning

I think that's a fair comment, Primmy- I don't think he was awful at all, but I was most infatuated with Luke's composure in the last couple of games and in this one he did seem to make a couple of bone headed/rookie mistakes. It happens, for an 18 y.o. 2nd round draft pick he's had an awesome run of games in his first year.

Goodesy was just absolutely dominant, it was wonderful watching him stretch out the legs once or twice and burn guys off. I really loved watching the ruck battle, too- Mummy obviously won it, but I think Hudson can hold his head high for his efforts.

Considering how sloppy the start was it ended up being quite a good game.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I definitely can recall playing junior footy in the 80s and coaches being very clear on the need to maintain structure in both the forward line and through the spine.

A thought: following up on the 28/29 calls.

Easton Wood. 29. Want him (as a player I mean..) . Actually I want to see those legs again. What a Unit!!! Can play a bit too.

Parke only had 11 disposals which seemed amazing as he appeared to be in everything.............he is a walk in now for home games and on the bigger field I hope so also !

He is genuinely dangerous in the forward line also

Very satisfying game for the most part - it started a bit as if we were trying to replicate the Freo performance with errant kicking and a 50 given away.

Very happy to see Mumford get among the possessions, Jack to be back to his damaging best, Goodes to remind us of what he can do at his best. Reid is exciting and I look forward to him converting more of his chances and hurting teams on the scoreboard. His highlights reel will be good to watch at the end of the year.

I don't like the reference to the 'pathetic crowd' - nothing pathetic about the people who turned up. There are probably 15k of Swans fans who will show up year after year, whether the swans are playing well or not and regardless of the weather. For the rest of the crowd then, the popularity of the opposition has a lot to do with it, as well as the form of the Swans and the weather. I think the biggest reason numbers are down however is economic and not due to the Swans performances over the last 2 years. Sydney is a very expensive city to live in and the GFC spooked a lot of people. Look at the retail figures if you don't agree. Harvey Norman's share price has gone from $7 to $2.20. The Swans don't exist in a vacuum. A lot of families have made the decision to cut their membership due to cost. And I'm not making any negative comment about anyone in saying that - there are sadly people who can't even take a holiday for fear their job will not be there when they come back. Stay the course Swans, play some exciting football and it will turn around. Love the tv ads featuring Goodes and Reid.

disposals again poor. Shaw Mattner and even though smith played a good game he pokes at the ball and doesnt kick thru it. I think he thinks too much about dinking it to a team mate instead of kicking hard at it. Unless disposa improves we wont improve.

Kudos to LRT. Played his role really well, rucked well and kicked a couple. Provided a contest in the forward line when needed. Also nice to see Jets smashing a few tackles, showing he has a physical presence as well. Coaches would be very happy with both IMO.
