If the injury curse is lifted on LJ this trade will come back to bite us on the arse.

      Maybe you should
      1. Wait till the deal is done before getting so upset, AND
      2. Put some faith in the people from the club who makes these decisions, they've done OK in the past!

Maybe LJ asked for the trade. Maybe he is just not cutting it in Sydney. Maybe he will be better off in his own patch of grass. Maybe we will be better served having someone who wants to be here, big time, than someone who played hot and cold - and yes he did. He was either spot on and a joy to watch, or fluffing around like he had had a something better to do (my opinion from observation, not anyone elses), as well as often carrying injury. He did NOT push his way into seniors. Jetts, Gazza, AJ, Sam, they all did as well as an 18yo kid called Luke. Nippa is still plugging away. I can name a few toppies who would give their eye teeth to play.

I would much rather have a maleable work in progress that has asked to move to the Swans than a not all that fussed Swans player. We now have Joey, Ted, Rhyce, Benny, Marty, who came from other clubs because they wanted to be here. Works for me.
      Well said Prims!

It shows why Lions have become a laughing stock as I think these picks are Freo's compensation picks and can be used in future drafts.
Actually we'll be the laughing stock if Johnston is traded for Armstrong

Surely LJ wouldn't have asked for a trade a month after he signed a 2 year extension...

                Inconsistant? He's 20. That's to be expected.
Carrying injury? If you do that at our club in the seniors, and play average you get rewarded. To suggest he'd rather be doing something else, than playing AFL football, is so off, as if he isn't busting his nut trying to prove himself, and get out there.

I would much rather my club tried to get the best for my club, not guys who want to come back to sydney cause they're sick of adelaide, or for a possibly home sick south australian.
If it becomes an Armstrong / Johnston trade I will be hella angry.

P.s whoever wrote we should trust the swans 'because they've done OK in the past' that is the point OK is not good enough, in the afl you need to be outstanding, and not give up something for nothing out of the goodness of their hearts, something quite frankly the swans do too much of.,

As many as Sam Reid and Mummy, I reckon. We should get rid of them all except our Premiership players - and let's just trade for proven Premiership players too. How did we let Simon Black slip through to GWS? And we'd be better off trading Mummy or that Canadian and keeping our only Premiership ruckman, Seaby.

This, if it happens, is a dumb deal, a crap deal, an unnecessary deal.
He'll come to us when his contract is done, we don't need to chase him, he's not that good.
                    GWS weren't even interested.

I didn't mind the swap with Sumner but the swap with LJ and a rubbish pick in a shallow draft makes no sense unless there is something going on of late that we don't know about. He got injured again after the contract extension so maybe his attitude started to wane. I don't know, I'm struggling to understand this one.

Fitzgerald, Stevens, Johnston - they love our underperforming high draft pick forwards...

2001: Pick 28 Mark Powell, Pick 13 as aprt of Barry Hall deal.

Some of these were injury plagued but we seem to have done better by trading our first round picks for players rather than selecting them.

I'm glad you're seeing the positive of getting Armstrong. Should play well for Swans. Has loads of potential. Will go well under tutoridge of Grandpa Goodes.
Whoa, talk about odd one out.

Not trying to be a smartarse, but when did Jetta push himself into the seniors? He's basically handed a spot because he "adds pace".

Lucky for us we pick up players like Sam Reid and Dan Hannebery with mid range picks.

Super excited about Armstrong though, the Swans have had their eye on him for a while I believe.
