To be fair, it's not like these guys were shock selections at those numbers, so it wasnt just the Swans who thought the picks were good value.

I know, it just seems to happen way too consistently. I suppose there's a fair ammount of luck involved, but I don't think a club has traded/lost as many round 1 draft picks as we have over the last decade.

And if he does the same next season, may well find himself being offered as trade bait in the 2012 Draft.

A poor deal a straight swap armstrong and lj, LJ has a lot of promise both ends of the groung. Stand your ground swans, a draft swap/pick or pre season draft, why do we always get screwed and just give up. Get pelchen to the swans for dewaling.

We Swans supporters should be "p d" off if this happens, let Armstrong go into the preseason draft, taller key position players dont grow on trees. LJ look good just needs to be played consistently.
Another top draft goes by the way. we have a good record with these top picks. Hope Mitch is better.

Different circumstances, they we're a new club trying to get some exposure from their big brother the eagles. hence they went for players like modra, croad, waterhouse etc. or did waterhouse start with them? i forget now. plus, they barely had recruiters in the 90s when most of the dockers bad stuff happened (Lucas, Lloyd, McLeod).

Your wrong there....O'keefe was a surprise, to the pundits, going so early. And I seem to remember Willoughby was also a bit of a surprise going so early

A poster on BF who is mates with LJ seems to think it's not going to happen.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

If Adelaide pick up the tab for the 2 years and are prepared to pay a fair bit more why would he not move. He is from Adelaide after all.

He got injured again after the contract extension so maybe his attitude started to wane. I don't know, I'm struggling to understand this one.
Al, there is no such thing as a shallow draft. The sperts say every year it is a shallow draft but come a few rounds in and the cry goes out about the gems picked up at high numbers. It's swings and roundabouts. You win some you lose some. Last year we just got it right with AJ and Parker. On SEN on Thursday Wallace went through the % success over the past 3-4 years of trades. The average across all clubs that could be deemed successful was 42%. Who was the highest at 82%, yes 82%; the Sydney Swans of course. So have faith old son. The glass half fullers though will say we must therefore be due for a shocker.

I am hoping we don't get Armstrong at the expense of LJ. LJ is only 20 and some have suggested he is a player with class, with good skills. How many Swans players can you say that about? He hasn't had a chance to show whether he can realise his potential yet.

If it was me making the decisions I would only let him go if it is true that he is lacking in commitment and wants to go back to SA.

I know he has had one injury after another and in that way is a bit like Vez, you wonder if they are ever going to be fit enough to get some game time, but it seems strange to me that years of effort are put into players like LRT and Jesse, and Pyke who have to be taught how to make every football step they take while others such as LJ with football talent are not persevered with in the same way.

If LJ seems disinterested and lacking in application sometimes it may be because he has yet to build up a solid fitness base or he doesn't see a future for himself at the Swans. One game in 3 years while someone else has 18 games in their 1st year would be enough to depress anybody, me at least! Maybe he does need a change of scenery.

No Armstrong is out of contract now.

Really the trade is L J for pick 36 and Armstrong is the bonus to get the deal done.

                              Forgot to add:

Could it be the old trade scare tactic the Swans have used before?
