Regardless of how this all ends up playing out, I think that's a very good point- at 22 I was a kid, I thought I knew everything but I made dumb decisions constantly. In this case he has a manager and a football club that are older and (supposedly) wiser than him that he has entrusted to sort this out for him- these are pretty young kids that pay a lot of money to managers to resolve these sorts of things for them. If anyone gets deregistered over this it should be the manager and whomever at AFC who agreed to it.
obviously there was no way of leaving back in 2009 and every other season AFC said no you cant leave
so he bunkered down and said i will see out the contract till 2012 as long as you ensure I can move on......seems like a win win to me at 22yrs of age !"be tough, only when it gets tough"

It is going to be interesting to see hoe Crowgate plays out. I don't think they can blame TippetYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

So much for Wilson's Brisbane deal.

It's been a dogs breakfast for sure, but why are people saying 'Let's walk away now' or 'I hope we can get out of this contract' etc?
All of this doesn't change the fact that Tippett is a very good get and my position hasn't changed just because Adelaide have done some dodgy contract negotiations a few years ago, which ironically were in no small way devised because Tippett IS a very good get that they desperately didn't want to lose.
There is NO WAY the AFL will let the trade happen and THEN sanction Tippett by way of deregistration etc. If Tippett lands at the Swans, he will be allowed to play.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Agree with TB, why back out now just because the Crows @@@@@@ up 3 years ago. Tippett could well be the "missing piece" we need to go back-to-back. I understand we won it this year without him, but we'll be even better with him.Comment

I think it will happen and Adelaide will trade him. Otherwise I am sure lawyers will get involved, and they will need to pay him massive $$$$$$
I cannot believe how stupid they areYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

If we don't get Tippett now, Adelaide have knowingly wasted our entire trade period. Will we be compensated? Fat chance.Comment

Maybe it's just me and maybe I get too sensitive about such things but I am concerned that some will view the Swans as having some part in this mess. That plus the COL allowance rubbish that surfaced at the start of all this. From an image perspective we haven't come out of this untarnished in the views of some. As I said maybe its just me but I hope no mud sticks in this - and there's plenty of mud being flung at the moment.......Comment

You know what is particularly galling is the melbourne press led by it seems Quayle and Wilson somehow equating our first round pick and a fringe player from the grand final as a cheap trade that somehow falls into line with that agreement.
The agreement seemingly was for a second round pick alone , not a first round pick and a player. I dont see how this is much undervalue.
It makes me laugh how a fringe player from our premiership team is considered a relative dud (and Im not saying Jesse is a gun, but geez in another team he could very well be a valuable acquisition.), yet other clubs trade fringe players as if they diamonds.Comment

'We sold our soul' on Tippett deal: Reid
I have previously considered Caroline to be an excellent football journalist especially when it comes to the backroom stuff (although her appreciation of the actual game is mediocre).
But frankly her article is so biased in favour of the Crow's one would almost suspect it was written by that journalistic embarrassment, Michelangelo Rucci.
From the tenor of her comments one would suggest that Tippett senior and the kids manager forced the Crows to sign the deal at gunpoint.
The poor Crows were under so much pressure in Adelaide, how could they refuse the naughty Tippett's demands. I haven't seen such a threadbare excuse since Shane Warne blamed his mum for taking a banned substance.
She suggests we're guilty of draft tampering, and only a lack of evidence will save us. That Andrew Ireland has a history of dodgy dealing and that the story only broke because we were trying to gouge the Crows (a claim much at odds with our history of fair-trading, and dependent on an a massive over-rating of the player).
Why she has fallen in line with the dominant anti-Swan mindset of the Victorian media and clubs I can't understand, but she has lost credibility in my eyes.
Lastly can someone please tell me wtf she means by "Sydney . . . . is in reality owned by the AFL?Comment
