The moment you rest on your laurels in this competition is the moment you get overtook, the swans and all clubs for that matter will strive to do whatever they can(legally) to win the premiership. We are the champions of 2012 really good i love it, but the future is what we have to start looking at as soon as the immediate celebrations end. Tippett would fill a gaping hole in our list and to have failed to get him because of poor/illegal administration is a strain on the afl and the game.
Tippett!!

I think the football gods helped us dodge a bullet.. I hope we keep Jesse and he becomes a better player than Tippett..Comment

Tippett was the kind of player that would have filled that void in the forward line. But I think we may look back and find that we lucked out by not getting him. I think it was the kind of desperate overreach that got the AFC in so much trouble. He was going to be far too overpaid, and it seems now that he is really not the kind of person we want at our club. It looks like we'll be going into next season with a developing forward line, but it was good enough to win the premiership this year, and there should be some improvement next year. A step up from Reid and Walsh may be just fine.Comment

It seems like there's no barrier to a deal for Tippett except for the likelihood that he gets deregistered.
Here's a profile of someone else facing deregistration: Peter Bulcher, Tippett's manager, ex-Lions spin doctor, good mate of Andrew Ireland. Ireland's daughter works with him (at Alistair Lynch's Velocity agency). It's a clubby industry.

Tippett?
From a practical point of view, mostly just the timing nowadays. It used to be that a player coming out of contract couldn't nominate for the ND unless his current club delisted him in one of the early lodgement periods. But that changed a few years back.
The benefit of the ND is that things get sorted faster. If he doesn't get traded tomorrow, and someone else drafts him before we do, the Swans are probably going to want to do some restructuring of current contracts (if allowed) to bring some payments forward to use next year's salary cap more effectively. If they have to wait until after the PSD, that gives less time to do so, plus it leaves both the club and Tippett in limbo for longer.Comment

serve u all right. You should have been basking in the glory of the 2012 pemiership rather than thinking some import from the Crows suddeny answers our problems and assures us of back to back. Our forward play was outstanding in the GF and we have huge potential in Reid, Morton McGlynne,Goodes, Rohan ,Jetta plus a resting ruckman to upset any teams backline. These are the guys who can give us back to back. Go Swannies Premiers 2012!
Our forward play was not outstanding in the grand final. It was good, but we didn't have any of the forwards kick a bag. All season we relied on a huge contribution from our midfielders in terms of goals kicked. I have no doubt this will continue again next year, but as was shown on our few bad days this season, that if our midfield is not able to support going forward, we struggle to kick a winning score.
And as good as that forward group you've named is, Goodes is still so incredibly important to it, and no matter what we'd like to think, he is certainly in the twilight of his career, and when he goes we have a massive hole to fill. Tippett would help fill it."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Get real. Now that he's available for free clubs will be clamoring to make room I think. I'd say GC, Brissy, WB, Carl would be interested just off the top of my head. We're a chance sure but its a matter of if we still want him and then if we are even capable of getting him.
I'd say he's definitely getting de-registered for a period of time. The evidence is stacking up.Comment

It's best for Tippett to end up in Queensland. No one will reproach those developing clubs for getting him cheap. He won't get that much scrutiny and he can go surfing every day. He hasn't performed even up the 700K (plus other bennies) he was getting from Adelaide the past few years, let alone an increase on that. If I were Andrew Ireland, I would be thinking that I just dodged a bullet.Comment

So we don't get him??
Good.
Back to business.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Anyway, looks like that won't be happening (though seems like anything is possible this year), and The Spang's been traded, soooo.... come on Big Jesse White??? Could we be looking back in 12 months saying, how close did we come to a massive mistake?? (Not too sure on that myself, but would love it all the same.)Superman still wears Brett Kirk PyjamasComment

So correct me if i'm wrong but we have four slots on our senior list. Clearly we've left room for the obligatory three draft picks but still KT if the window opens back up'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment
