Poor petals. And they still think of this as a trade in the standard AFL sense..... Kurt's walking on the AFC, so they've made the best of a bad hand in the situation. You can often pick up a pretty decent player in the low 20's of a draft, so that plus Jesse is better than nothing.
Looks like we're being painted by the baddies in this one though - geez you win a GF and suddenly everyone has it in for you......Comment

I'm a bit cautious about the Andrew Ireland quote, I think something clever has been done. Yes, Sydney hasn't used it's full allocation, but I think they're back-ending his contract. I think his quote implied that in 2013, Tippett would be getting paid less at Sydney than AFC. We probably won't find out what the players are paid unless it is released in the media, and even then some figures are prone to exaggerationWhy is it that Tippett is branded a "defector"when the likes of Ablett and many others are imune to this description by the press.?
I understand Adelaides attitude, but not the others.
Also AFC devalued Tippett themselves.....foolishly by talking down his value to them
All will settle .......particularly if we pay him less than he was on with AFC (Andrew Ireland QUOTE )Comment

The Bigfooty Adelaide board is still a good read, over 10,000 posts now.
Lots of rubbish talk about forcing a good Swans player elsewhere for a suitable draft pick to compensate adequately for Tippett. They just don't seem to undersand that you can't force a player to go anywhere against their wishes.
If it's our first rounder and Jesse then Adelaide have accepted big unders to get the deal done and we will owe them in future or the Karma Bus may hit us over this. I really hope we are being fair traders by having a gentleman's agreementon future trades to balance the books.Comment

I don't necessarily concur that we have paid big unders for Tippett. There are plenty of examples of very good players being out of contract going for what many would percieve as 'under true value'. We all know that if things fall well for Jesse White, he could be a valuable pick up for them. And the talk is that the draft is pretty deep this year - hence an early 20's pick should have a very good chance of picking up a young quality player for them. I actually think Adelaide have done as well as they possibly could out of the trade. We all know that Tippett is a quality player, but he is inconsistent, has a few Medical ??? over his head, and has yet to truly kick on as we hope he will. He isn't a Gary Ablett, a Chris Judd, and hence shouldn't be valued at levels near them. The Bigfooty Adelaide board is still a good read, over 10,000 posts now.

Its a quirk of the trading system used by the AFL - if you ask me, with him out of contract, then he should be a free agent and we should have got him for nothing. But the AFL, and with good reason is not going to move to a true trading system any time soon."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Well there are a lot of grapes in that part of the world. With the way the folk and media of SA have treated Tippett in the last couple of weeks (and yet he hasnt bagged the place at all) is it any wonder he wants to leave. They are a sour grapey type of crowd arent they???And to even put in print that they hv been ripped off by getting Jesse, doesn't show a lot of class or style that's for sure. (subtlety obvious isn't a strength over there). The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

We gave them Caven, Fitzy, Stevens, Lewis J and stopped them from looking completely stupid by allowing KT to walk without any compensation. If it's our first rounder and Jesse then Adelaide have accepted big unders to get the deal done and we will owe them in future or the Karma Bus may hit us over this. We'll agree not to take Jesse back.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

It's not a great deal for Adelaide but if your player is going to walk you're not going to get a great deal.
This is interesting. The Crows are also set to get Angus Graham as a further ruck option:

I think it says more about the role of big men in the game these days than their not rating Jesse. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Wonder if the afl is taking its time approving the deal, or are they still negotiatingYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

Id say they would be setting his contract up to back end at the same time that Goodes and maybe a few others are due to retire.I'm a bit cautious about the Andrew Ireland quote, I think something clever has been done. Re: Tippett?
Apparently Sydney will be holding a press conference for 3pm today. Can anyone confirm?Comment

Re: Tippett?
Big rumour going around is we'll trade Parker for pick 11, the trade that to Adelaide. Fair if true, but that'd really be disappointing tbh.Comment
