Jesse has always seemed on the verge of something good, but never quite there. How many posts there must have been about Jesse forward, Jesse back, Jesse in the ruck, Jesse delisted ............

There was always so much hope due to his physical attributes, but he just didn't seem to be a 'football player' mentally.

I watched a few of those reserve games on the live streaming late in the year when Jesse was rucking the entire game and was very impressed. He truly dominated against men his own size or bigger and did it consistently. Before this apparent trade came up, I felt he would give Pyke a real challenge for that second ruck/forward position despite Pyke's strong showing this year. But then again, that's the way it's always been with Jesse. Greatness just around the corner.

I hope he does well at Adelaide, if that is where he's going. He could be great. He might be a flop. Nothing would surprise me.

Tippett already is a very good forward, but not elite. He is coming into his prime now and in combination with Reid should form one of the best tall forward combos over the next 5 years. With Jesse, there is always Hope.

It would great if both KT and JW do well. It will not only improve our forward line, but our reputation as fair traders as well.

Ok final offer is we go to Freo and get Kirky back and throw him into the deal. He would still be harder and tougher than any of the Crows. I reckon it' a done deal. White plus 22 take it or leave it. GWS? Really? They have a young potential premiership forward line. They don't need Tippett they need a few more hard nuts in mid field to get the ball forward.

I feel a little bad for the Crows. If this was North, Carlton or Collingwood I would be laughing into my cup of tea right now. I've always had a soft spot for Adelaide though and really there are only so many times you can be shat on. Without them and Andrew McLeod I would have never got into footy. Dont feel bad DLBIA14 Obviously you haven't been on the end of the Adelaide Crow's fans at AAMI. You only have to look at what they are saying about Tippet to understand they aren't worth any of our sympathy. They whingers who think the AFL owes them a living. Wouldn't last six minutes in sydney market.

The initial suggestion that he wanted to go home to Qld.

The rather prompt turnaround that we would be even better than home, I assume cos of more $$$$.

The turnaround by AFC on his worth to the club..way they now talk, they feel better off without him?

The poor performance he put up against us in the final.

Someone tell me that it'll all be right on the night..as soon as I see him take a big one at the SCG and win a game for us that all will settle in my mind.

          Someone tell me.

As for the rest of the stuff, KT has been wanting to move for some time. Finally, it will be to us. I'm happy with that.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Each to their own I suppose. They are OTT in their reaction, but really their just at the end of their tether. Gunston, Davis, Bock, Tippett all in the last couple of years when they've got good things going for them. If AJ or Hanners or Reid wanted to leave us and we got little in return I think most of us would be unapologetic about our outrage.

As a club we've been trod on throughout our history. I'm not exactly gleeful when we may be the ones doing the treading. Nevertheless the Crows have inflicted some of the hurt on themselves. They should have let him leave earlier.

Me and a friend were actually discussing today about how in recent years the Crows have lost Phil Davis, Nathan Bock, Jack Gunston and now Tippett, and how unlucky it is for so many promising key position players to leave your club, but there must be something more to it. There must be something about Adelaide that players don't enjoy; perhaps Tippett is the only one who is vocalising it in regards to the fishbowl-type environment. So don't feel sorry for them, I think some of the onus lies on them, or the culture they have failed to create to make players want to stay interstate (i.e. here).

Adelaide have a really strong team with a lot of depth and should do very well even without Tippett. They've got plenty of cover in their forward line. Will give opportunities to the likes of Jenkins, McKernan and Johnston, and perhaps Jesse as well.

I sympathize with the fans who have seen many of their best players walk, but I think the AFC has to take the blame for this particular one. Tippett was always a problem in Adelaide.

Adelaide have done exceptionally well with their rookie list players making to the seniors.

You answered your own question, he is worth more than pick 22/23 and Jesse White and hence why I said that this deal would be done and it would be slightly skewed towards us. The facts are tall KPF (no matter how good they are) always command a premium come trades.

Pick 13 only would have seen both parties walk away reasonably happy with the deal for a player who is out contract come 31 October and of his ability.

Hey Roy, I think the misgivings you are feeling over the Tippett deal has a lot to do with the tirade of abuse from Crows fans and some officials toward him and the fact that this saga is dragging on and on.
As a big fan of Tippett for a while now I have followed his career pretty closely and I reckon I can put your mind to rest on a few of the issues you raised.

To the best of my knowledge he has never actually said that he wanted to go home, he has always said that he wanted out of the fishbowl that is the world of an AFL footballer in Adelaide. The "Go Home" was an assumption made by the AFC.
He said four years ago before he signed his last contract that he wanted out of Adelaide, he said it again last year when he still had a year to run on his contract - and that's when the bright sparks at the AFC should have traded him.

He was offered the biggest contract in the AFC's history to stay on at Westlakes, so it is not simply a money thing and the shocking (and very unfair) bagging of him since he told them he definately wanted to be traded is sour grapes and nothing more.

He was very poor against us, no defending that one, but if you watch their prelim against The Hawks you'll see just what he can bring to our club.

're feeling sorry for crows. I would feel bad if our best players wanted to leave. But they don't that's the point.we nearly lost Rok and made a big mistake telling Jude he shld look elsewhere. Lucky for us he stayed. Ammon and Schneider went but for reasons unclear. But mostly when u r a swan you stay a swan. Those dreadful days when players like rocca and grant cldnt wait to go r over.

Kurt is out of contract and wants to go. From the sounds of things he stayed at the AFC for a few years longer than he wanted to and he nearly got them into a grand final. The only thing I can see that supporters have to be upset about (debate on performances aside) is that he has only nominated Sydney as his club of preference.

I have also been a fan of Tippett for a while now, but he has seemed to stagnate. In 2010, before the emergence of Reid, I would have thrown the kitchen sink at him to get him to the Swans.

Lost along the way is that Kurt is a surfer. He wants to surf. It would sound pretty funny for him to come out and state that, hence why the go home to his family factor seemed to wane when push came to shove.
