For those who've just joined the thread, let me sum it up.

Kurt Tippett may be traded to the Swans. Or not.

Apparently Tippett refusing to even talk to GWS. So a trade won't be done there. They'd have to take him in the PSD if all fell thru. Only time I can think of a club being usurped in the PSD for a player who wants to go to that club is John MrCarthy to Port, and Carlton cutting Collingwood's lunch with Stevens from Port.

I would think given Tippett has signed a conditional contract with us that he's likely to in fact be contractually obliged not to talk to another club. Not sure why would we have the contract otherwise?

The more I think about it, the less sure I am about the GWS interest. I can't see Tippett willingly going to GWS so they can't trade to get him, they would have to get him through the PSD and agree to his terms of $ and contract length of 4 years.

So they get a player who doesn't really want to be there and they are having to pay a good chunk of their decreasing salary cap to him over four yers at a time when they have another 25 kids wanting a lot more money to stay. It's not like they are short of developing super forwards.

Given he wants out of Adelaide for lifestyle reasons, I can't see any other team agreeing to his terms in the PSD and landing a very disgruntled player for their troubles. The only players really in this IMO are us who can't get the trade done and are last cab in the PSD rank, or GCS and Brisbane who are after all going home clubs for Tippett and who can do a trade with Adelaide or get him for free in the PSD.

Not sure how this will turn out but I don't think we'll do anything silly to get Tippett given he could just be a solid concussion from permanent retirement and the possible disruption to team harmony if we force a player elsewhere against their wishes.

Never had good feelings about this trade and now we've got the AFL looking at our salary cap concession as a result of the Tippett offer!

I would let Tippet go. A 25 yo with a history of concussion is not worth Rohan or Parker. I would apologies to Kurt and move on.

It would be good to retain (or trade for) a first round pick. And our second. Somehow. 60-something for our first pick is very late in the draft.

Offer 'em 2nd round and Jesse (or some other fringe player) and take our chances.

They must be still negotiating. Why else would they delay an announcement if not still looking for better deals/alternatives?
