It is what it is, he only has one year left and then we move on.
A club will be prepared to take him on, it is just a matter of the amount they are prepared to pay out of their own pocket which is then transferred to our sans Tippett salary cap. For a club either desperately needing some experience or one that feels it is in with a sniff of a flag and is looking for some cover then Tippo could do a job. And knowing our luck he'd return to 2016 Round 1-12 form. Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Tigers would seem the most likely destinations. Collingwood have more than enough pensioners on their list as it is.
I'd think that any deal that tips $300,000 into our salary cap would have to be seriously considered and without genuine interest from more than one club that may be the best we'll getComment

Our Recruiting team have done a great job over the years but in future can we at least make the trigger for a ridiculous amount of money contract extension something tangible like maybe an All-Australian Guernsey or 50+Goals for 2yrs, etc etc
Still struggling to think of anything plausible over the first 4 years that could have enacted a "trigger"Comment

If we are serious about trading Tippett (not sure we are) then keep him in the NEAFL for the remainder of this year.
Cloke had a big money contract with Collingwood for 2017 but I understand he has withgone some of his salary to play with the Dogs in the hope he would be in their best 22Comment

I saw Tipoff last night when I busted into the reserves box and had a quick chat at 3/4 time.
He's pretty upset at being dropped, but he knows what he has to do to get back in.
Time is running out for him.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Tippetts not going to be at the club next year judging by what Ireland said recently. Keeping Tippett in the reserves pulls trade value down he's not worth a first round pick he 31 next year maybe two seasons left. Maybe a future second round for the 2018 draft dubbed by some recruiters as a "super draft" would be a good option. Nick Blakey looks to be a first round pick in 2018 not sure what selection yet points will be important.Comment

Unfortunately, the club still hasn't paid back ND for the 2005 SF. The runner position should be available in 2055.The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

Tippetts future must depend on whether they can fit all players - in particular Reid and Jones - inside the cap for 2018.
But as his ridiculous salary is only for 2018, I'm sure they can structure deals for those players around Tippett i.e. It needn't be Tippo or Reid/Jones, they can afford all, particularly with the 20% odd increase this year.
Then it's a question of how they can get him back to his early 2016 form. Surely that's a better option than him playing somewhere else and us paying the bulk of his salary. In form he's a very very good player.
That's a long-winded way of saying: the best outcome for everyone is keeping him and helping him find form and confidence. He's definitely a confidence player.Comment

Tippett and 2nd pick to Brisbane for their 2nd pick and 50% of last year of contract.
Gun with first pick and match pick for Ballenden when another club select him.

Just my opinion of course but I think that Tippett would be most attractive to a club that thinks it can win a flag in the next couple of years and that in Tippett there is a player that could help them in that pursuit and who won't cost them the earth.
The club that screams out at me is the Tigers. They could use him as a backup ruckman and a key forward, both being potential weak spots. I doubt we'd get anything pick wise, the reason being that all clubs will know this is a forced sale and will drive a very hard bargain. The only way a pick or a pick upgrade would happen is the highly unlikely situation where two clubs are interested. I think it much more likely that we'll give away a third round pick or upgrade instead, a la the Matt80 Rottweiler deal...
The Tigers have two first round draft picks this year, there on plus Geelong's which on current form should be between picks 11-17.
I reckon they might also make a play for Gunston from Hawthorn and they'd need to part with one of those picks whilst keeping one for themselves
Add in Tippett and Gunston and they are genuinely strongerComment

Tippo's been nominated the season's worst player to date (out of, I'm guessing, over 500 to choose from) - ouch! Ralphy's mid-season awardsAll opinions are not equal.
