    Tippett?

Yep, Tippett is a giant Dickhead and the AFC administration are just a giant sack of dog turds. Let's forget this whole bull@@@@ saga. Any cricket fans out there? Punters looking in good nick !

      Now it's not AFC's fault:

According to Caroline, Adelaide stuffed up, Tippett stuffed up, his manager stuffed up and the Swans stuffed up (don't know how the swans stuffed up), Tippett will get de- registered for 6 weeks, Adelaide will get a fine and Tippett won't go to the Swans.

I expect that the AFL will instruct both clubs to negotiate a trade. If they can't agree then he goes into the PSD. The AFL will then deal with the contract issues.
Tippett is out of contract and is entitled to negotiate a trade. Precedent says he will probably get delisted for some games. Adelaide will get a penalty of some sort for lodging a dodgy contract.

Like the MRP; Adelaide have pleaded guilty so will get a downgraded penalty. I am pretty sure this is not the first time a club has fessed up. How we can be seen as taking advantage of the situation, other than being cagey negotiators, is bizarre.

I still don't think they fessed up. I think they stuffed up. I think they contacted the AFL hoping to be told any gentleman's agreement to help get KT to his club of choice wasn't enforceable and they could screw the Swans more. But they were told it was not only unenforceable but unlawful. Now they claim to be playing the honesty card!

Yet again it is Jesse White who is being adversely affected. He hasn't been able to properly sell his wares as it was thought he was going to Adelaide.

Can't see why any of this will impact on the Tippett-Swans deal. It seems Jesse has already signed and the Adelaide Addy in the last few days has been full of quotes about how the deal will benefit the Crows. If the investigation has been in train since last Friday then you would think Crow people would have gone quiet on the deal if it was in jeopardy. They are talking about Jesse's salary now making the deal more fair and there has even been talk about taking TDL as well so the AFL will sign it off.

PS Why is anyone questioning the fairness of the Tippett trade when the premiership runners-up and hot favourites secured a duel AA fullback for an elevation of 6 spots in the Western bulldogs second pick! And who can forget the infamous "Veale deal!"

Oh I don't know if he has actually been ripped off Satch. If it doesn't come off it means he doesn't have to go to Adelaide, and the way things are that's probably a good thing. He's a good bloke who gets to stay in Sydney. He knows he is not going to have a stella career, he has another business anyway, he has a life, and a wicked sense of humour.

Suggest everyone takes a stand on his behalf and send an email to Swans headquarters about where he stands. I did. They replied in a reassuring manner about his situation.

Not all the fact are in, but this appears to be the case at this moment:

There was something in writing that in contract law would constitute a binding agreement between the AFC and KT that KT could be traded for (perhaps) a second round draft pick to a team of his choice (perhaps limited to a Qld team) once his contract ended in 2012. For some reason, this part of KT's 2009 contract was not submitted to the AFL for approval. The reason for this is perhaps the central issue of the AFL investigation and the answer will have the greatest influence on the penalties incurred by the respective parties. The reasons can range from stupidity to oversight to fraud. We have no details so far. But it should be clear to every club administration that such side agreements are against AFL rules.

What the SFC knew about this agreement throughout the negotiations will impact how we are treated in this case. Ireland has stated the he believed there was no such agreement, and it would seem that we have negotiated as if this is the case, despite all the rattling about offering unders, etc. But surely Ireland knew that some agreement existed, but whether he thought it was binding or used that knowledge to advantage is not clear.

Unless we are squeaky clean in this affair, it would seem unlikely that we will be getting Tippett. And it's too early to say how severely Tippett will be sanctioned, if at all.

At this point it's hard to say how things will unfold. We could be anything from a complicit party to draft tampering to an innocent victim.

It was on that oh so reliable Adelaide radio station 5AA. I didn't hear Caroline say it only Graham Cornes re- telling it.

Graham Cornes!!! Well we can discount that immediately then. How his sons managed to turn out so brilliantly (now do admit!) has always puzzled me.

Mark Fine says on SEN that Tippett will be deregistered for some time. A lot of people will have egg on their face if it comes out that this secret agreement was at the instigation of AFC. If Adelaide is taking this tack to spite Tippett (if it was at Tippett's instigation) then surely they are equal parties as they should have known it was against the rules. Player managers will be looking really closely at AFC from now on. I can imagine that parents of kids in the draft are hoping like hell they don't get drafted by AFC.

Does it really say anything more about Adelaide than they were prepared to go to great lengths to keep someone they thought would be a star ? Why would that effect the decisions of kids to play afl or their parents ? They are not the first organisation prepared to bend the rules.

on the other hand i do wonder whether what the conversations at CEO to CEO were supposed to do ? ie were we expected to get Adelaide out of the mess they had created ?
