There'd be a few "crow calls' echoing around Westlakes Oval atm.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

What I don't get is why so many Crows fans are talking about the sanctions we should be getting? I'm sorry, WTF?! If we were holding Adelaide over our second round pick then sure, we were trying to advantageously manipulate an illegal clause to out benefit, but we weren't. 23 is low, but we have nothing higher to offer. It was pick 15, then that pick and Jesse would have been our offer no doubt.

Adelaide manipulated the situation when they got Tippett to resign in 09. GC was screwed in that moment and Adelaide was able to keep a player through illegal means. Tippett may be culpable, his manager is culpable, but it is the Crows that should bear the brunt of the punishment. We're just the unsuspecting passers by. It would be interesting to note if either the Lions or GC were aware of this clause too.

Crows fans are one-eyed, bitter morons who should be more concerned with utterly unprofessional conduct of their own management than engaging in a deflective blame game.

Eugh, I can't believe we wasted 139 pages for trade that likely won't get through.

Unless we only offered a 2nd round pick.

                Don't want him... at all.
Crows supporters don't think he's as good as the mullet anyway.
Why are we wasting our time?

Won't be surprised if we cop a fine or something, if we were in some way complicit and had reasonable suspicion the deal was dodgy.

In the mean time, should we be going after Stefan Martin or something?

Why should we cop a fine, we werent there when this deal was made. We offerred him an opportunity and he selected us when everyone thought he was going to the gold coast or brisbane. How could we possibly be complicit in a deal made three years ago.

If Adelaide had just shut their mouths done the trade and honoured the "gentlemens agreement" they acknowledge may have been in place instead of whinging long and loud about him going to us, they wouldnt have had to worry.

They may have faced a bit of flack from fans over the deal but todays news is tomorrows fish and chip wrapper.

Tippett's official contract lodged with the AFL, which everyone has relied upon, says nothing about this gentleman's agreement. Adelaide have always denied it until this point. The AFL and Sydney have been deceived by the AFC. Sydney have nothing to answer for and are in fact the most damaged party in this affair, having been misled as to Tippett's actual existing agreement and being impaired from making other trades due to their deceit. If the Swans were genuinely negotiating in good faith on the basis of the lodged contract, I think the SFC have a legitimate claim for compensation from Adelaide.

What is he worth to the Swans?
Perhaps they aren't prepared to lose a first round pick for any player.
Perhaps they said that to the Cows.
That Tippett has said he'd prefer to go to the Swans is not the Swans doing.

I hope we only offered a second round pick & White.
I'd rather that than trying to maintain some catchcry of being fair traders.
I'd rather be trying to get all taht we could.

Can't wait till we get Tippett in the draft, Adelaide miss out on a pick and get fined, Jesse White fights his way back into our firsts, and then Adelaide find themselves short of ruck forwards later on in the year just when we are about to play them.

Here is a question - if Tippett was complicit (ie: demanded) the dodgy clause, as goes the rumour, he runs the risk of de-registration for a period.

That question may not be answered before Friday, so . . . should we still recruit him if we're potentially not going to be able to play him????

(And yes, I appreciate the AFL may freeze any deal anyway)

Stephan Martin! You can't be serious. Struggled to get a game in an appalling team.

Not our fault AFC and Tippett are dodgy.

I can't imagine our recent record with impeccable administration would have seen us tryng to pull the wool over the AFL's eyes. It would fly in the face of everything that has made our club great.

I agree a previous poster who said we are the victims here. It has certainly thrown our trade period into turmoil.

We need to forget about Tippett and trade very effectively in the two remaining days. If he comes up in the PSD or ND then we revisit the concept of making him a Swan.

From what I can see out of this process, Tippett has failed our 'no-dickheads' test.
