What the Swans say - afc.com.au
?We?ve got no blanket rules. We?d certainly hope none of our premiership players would need to be involved in a trade, but we won?t know until the deal is done.? - Sydney CEO Andrew Ireland

Sydney are the Premiers. Unless they stupidly trade top Premiership players, this year the best they can draft is one player in the top 40. Personally, I feel that it all becomes a bit random how good or bad the player will turn out once you get past Pick 15.

      I note:

Sam Reid was draft pick 38, Daryn Cresswell 39, Luke Parker 40, Michael O'Loughlin 40, Josh Kennedy (via Hawthorn) 40, Adam Goodes 43, Amon Buchanan 52, Ryan O'Keefe 56, Andrew Dunkley 56, Alex Johnson 57, Craig Bird 59, Adam Schneider 60, Nick Malceski 64, Paul Williams 70 (via Collingwood) .

I add the following players who 'made it' via the Rookie list, (in other words, weren't even good enough initially to be drafted at all on a Senior List):
Nick Smith, Kieran Jack, Heath Grundy, Paul Bevan, Tadhg Kennelly, Ben McGlynn (via Hawthorn), Matty Matner (via Adelaide), Darren Jolly (via Melbourne)

Then I add the ?well-known? players (those non-duds) picked in the top 35:
      1. Mark Kinnear pick 4, (played in only 6 games)
      2. Ryan Fitzgerald pick 4, (just 8 games for Sydney and 10 games for the Crows. More famous as a media personality than a footballer)
      3. Glenn Gorman pick 4, (never played for Sydney, two games for another club)
      4. Jason Spinks pick 5 (never played)
      5. Paul Burton pick 6 (never played)
      6. John Brinkotter pick 10, (played five games),
      7. Patrick Veszpremi pick 11, (only played 11 games for Sydney and 11 games for the Bulldogs in a total of 5 seasons) ,
      8. Lewis Johnson pick 12, (2 games played),
      9. Brett O'Farrell pick 14, (played only 21 times, 8 for the Swans)
      10. Daniel O'Keefe pick 15, (played no AFL games at all),
      11. Josh Willougby pick 16, (played no games of AFL at all),
      12. Anthony Cole pick 17 (never played)
      13. Stuart Mangin pick 20, (never played for the Swans, three games in total elsewhere)
      14. Jed Lamb pick 21, (yet to play a game in two seasons at the club),
      15. Paul Holdsworth pick 22, (six games played in total)
      16. Dion Myles pick 22 (played 8 times for Sydney)
      17. Lyndon Dakin pick 23, ( never played)
      18. Scott Salisbury pick 23 (never played)
      19. Dale Hall pick 26 (never played)
      20. Mark Powelll pick 28, (played just 8 games of AFL football)
      21. Daryl Griffin pick 28, (never played as a Swan, just 18 games elsewhere)
      22. Tim Schmidt pick 29 (played only 17 games before being delisted),
      23. Will Sangster pick 33 (a career of just 2 games)
      24. Shannon Corcoran pick 34. (two games for Sydney, thirty in total)

What Nich said. Amazing info. Taa Toppy.

Oooohhhhh this is interesting. Does it mean that if you are picked up late you are fully aware of how tenuous your situation is and you work your butt off? then again Schmidt did work, he just had a Doggy body. Still plays local league though.

But many of those names I cannot remember at all, and Me A Ressie Watcher.

Knew early on that Willoughby may be a miss. And Johnston left me just meh. Still and all, such an interesting series of stats.

What about White + 61 for Dogs 41 then we give 22+41 to the Cows for Tippett?

We do the right thing by White to give him a team who are desperate for forwards and we get a 2nd rounder to accomodate pick 22 so we don't give up premiership players/or anyone else on the list, while keeping a pick in the top 50 (pick 42).

Win, Win, Win? Cows yes probably shortchanged but they aren't in a position of power with somebody who is out of contract.

has anyone seen Shaun play the game ?

if we cant get Tippett do we go for Shaun ?
More evidence of the Adelaide fold just slagging Tippett and playing up other players to soften the fans' reaction when they don't get what they expect in the trade.

Nice job Top40, just goes to show that top draft picks don't always turn into 200 gamers, after all they are only kids.

Maybe you should send it of to the AFC, they might be happy with our 2nd, 3rd & 4th picks after reading that.

They are just a pack of flogs, they have us shopping the whole team around, they are sure they'll get 2 first rounders & 1 of our future stars.

I got red carded for saying that Tippett is uncontracted & Adelaide would have to accept our pick 22 + fringe player, or they get nothing in the PSD, but Sydney would do their best to do a deal with them.

And now this story pumping up Jesse White features in the Adelaide Addy. The flot pickens!

(I know he says he hopes to get to a Melbourne club but that gives Adelaide scope to pull off a "recruiting coup" to get him to SA. Wow! Can you imagine the headlines: "Adelaide lands power forward Jesse White plus pick 22 for just that unwanted, disloyal, over-rated dud Skurt Tippett!")

Tippett stuff is interesting. Swans offering nothing of substance. Crows lining up on a daily basis to bag him and say they don't want him back. Meanwhile Suns say they wouldn't take him in draft.so if swannies sit and do nothing we get Tippett for nothing. Swans say they will act honorably but if crows keep being so dumb and keep saying Tippett is a worthless crock how can we then be seen to be offering up one of our jewels. I know crows and their fans are dumb but I didn't think they were this dumb.

... And if that does happen those Crows fans will be too stupid to see the irony of how much they bagged Tippett for saying his pref was Qld but ended up choosing Sydney vs. them claiming the coup of stealing Jesse away from his stated pref of Melb.

                              Tippett?

Cunningham is senior listed already. Same with Campbell Heath. Shane Biggs is probably next in line.

According to the Swans website, the above 3 are all still rookie listed. The other recent delisted rookies have been removed. As have the names of Moore and Seaby.

A mid season elevation of a rookie is not a permanent elevation until the draft period when the Club nominates that player officially to the Senior list.

They still may get elevated but not officially until Nov 22.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.
