Up until this morning I was still OK if we ended up with KT despite all that has been revealed. However, if what is being said about his ambitious father being behind this deal is correct, I definitely don't want him. A pushy parent that also knows how to get connections in high places is a real risk to our culture.

... Now saying that the side agreement involves payments to KTs brother, it reinforces my feeling that the Tippett family is not one we need at our club. I get that KT himself was only 22 at the time and may have a good attitude himself, but the baggage of his dad really worries me. Remember what a nice kid Jelena Dokic was? And what a nightmare Damir was? An extreme example I know, but you get my point.

Maybe it's just me and maybe I get too sensitive about such things but I am concerned that some will view the Swans as having some part in this mess. That plus the COL allowance rubbish that surfaced at the start of all this. From an image perspective we haven't come out of this untarnished in the views of some. Why would our club be tainted? Adelaide have brought this all on themselves .
Swans have done nothing but try to do a deal for Tippett....And not with a 2nd round pick as his contract allegedly states, but for a 1st round and JW...
They should of taken it day 1.
Instead they clowned around, mouthing off like a bunch of bafoons...Now they must justify their actions to their fans and the AFL
But if they want to demonise another club..... it was Gold Coast who supposedly dobbed them in.

Lastly can someone please tell me wtf she means by "Sydney . . . . is in reality owned by the AFL?

I have no idea - and to be honest the article is completely bizarre. She also provides no evidence at all to suggest any Sydney wrong-doing and yet spends the last half of her article denigrating them. She has always been a muck-raker with little moral integrity, but this is pretty low even by her standards.

I also don't understand why she is creating an image of the AFC as victims. It makes no sense. Perhaps she asked the Tippett's for an interview and they declined and now she uses the media to enact revenge - I wouldn't put it past her.

The Herald Sun are indicating that it was the Gold Coast becoming aware of Tippett's letter of arrangement with the Crows and seeking AFL scrutiny of the 2009 document that forced the hand of the AFC.

If it is the case then in all likelyhood we have gone into the deal with AFC with the intention of trying to put the best deal possible we could for KT, with no evidence other than rumour of the get out arrangement.

If that is the case then Carro, would want to write an apology to the Sydney Football Club for suggesting that we were provided with documentatory proof of the secret off contract deal and have used it to negotiate with the AFC for Tippett as leverage.

Also shows that the GCFC are laying the ground work for picking KT up with their acquired pick 13 and were doing some background checks to see if they could disrupt any AFC and Sydney Football Club deal in the interim.

I have previously considered Caroline to be an excellent football journalist especially when it comes to the backroom stuff (although her appreciation of the actual game is mediocre).

But frankly her article is so biased in favour of the Crow's one would almost suspect it was written by that journalistic embarrassment, Michelangelo Rucci.

From the tenor of her comments one would suggest that Tippett senior and the kids manager forced the Crows to sign the deal at gunpoint.

The poor Crows were under so much pressure in Adelaide, how could they refuse the naughty Tippett's demands. I haven't seen such a threadbare excuse since Shane Warne blamed his mum for taking a banned substance.

She suggests we're guilty of draft tampering, and only a lack of evidence will save us. That Andrew Ireland has a history of dodgy dealing and that the story only broke because we were trying to gouge the Crows (a claim much at odds with our history of fair-trading, and dependent on an a massive over-rating of the player).

Why she has fallen in line with the dominant anti-Swan mindset of the Victorian media and clubs I can't understand, but she has lost credibility in my eyes.

Caroline Wilson clearly hates the Swans - read her GF review. As for Sydney being owned by the AFL - what a crock.

She throws in a bunch of irrelevent crap - accuses of us of greed for trying to negotiate a good trade deal...so greedy! - casts aspersions on Andrew Ireland - brings up the cost of living allowance. Pathetic and vindictive.

It makes me laugh how a fringe player from our premiership team is considered a relative dud (and Im not saying Jesse is a gun, but geez in another team he could very well be a valuable acquisition.), yet other clubs trade fringe players as if they diamonds.

A very good point, you have clubs are chasing Martin from Melbourne, who in turn are chasing Pederson from North, yet Jesse IMO has the wood on both of them. And as you say at the very least he's on the fringe of a premiership team.

Good advice - thanks... I think I will have to watch the GF again on the weekend to get the vibe back. It's been 2 days since I last watched it

I do trust that the Club will do the right thing here - if all is good and they're satisfied and we get KT, I'm all for it. If something means the deal is off, we I'm ok with that too. One thing I would never doubt, and our trading history shows, is that our due diligence is pretty spot on and that we play fairly. Same can't be said for a few other clubs...

It's likely that KT and his management are using legal advice (and the arrangement) to stop the AFC doing this deal and instead making them trade to Sydney instead.

The AFL also might not like the AFC acquiring pick 13 for KT (as punishment for this mess) and not process that deal. If there is any whiff that the SFC have seen the hard copy arrangement and were using it for leverage with the Crows to accept pick 23 and White then our deal is unlikely as well.

I think what you say is wrong on so many levels. Its up to Tippet where he is traded, so doesnt matter what GCFC or GWS offer. He's chosen Sydney. A trade can only happen with Sydney.

Reading between the lines, all we have to offer is our first pick (23). Crows have no more room on their list for our 2nd pick, and we are unlikely to get a better pick than 23 by trading white/tdl to other clubs.
Our only sweatener is to give them Jesse White, and pay his salary. Not one I'd comfortable with.

What the AFL want is for a trade to happen that doesnt include a 2nd round pick only. Sydney satisfy that (just), and obviously GCFC may satisfy that too.

KT will only nominate for the PSD, as thats the only draft he can stipulate his salary and contract length.

These rumours of KT's get out clause have been around for years and from many sources. Where have the AFL been all this time? Why didn't they take a little bit of time out to ask a few questions? Why did they have to wait for Adelaide to turn themselves in before starting an investigation? This is negligence on the part of the AFL, bordering on collusion. Almost seems that they were purposely looking the other way. I doubt that Sydney would have been making an offer for Tippett if this investigation was going on in August.

Wherever Tippett is next year, he will be the focus of constant media attention. Maybe it's good for business, but I doubt that it will help team harmony.
