It looks like Sheedy et al are spruiking KT as their marketting heir to Folau. It also looks like they are publically wooing KT himself - stating that he is going to be their shining light, Phil Davis is so looking forward to playing with him again, etc. etc. Naturally the AFl bosses will be right behind them in this. Our chances of snagging him are next to none. At least this time they will pay millions for someone who can actually play the game.
Tippett!!

i dont think he will end up there unless he himself says to them, yep i would be happy to come here..but really think about it...
why would you go there he is 25, has had some concussion issues...he could go there on the same money as us, with next to no chance of playing in finals or a grand final...
or come here on the same money and have a very good chance of grand final success and regular finals campaigns....
can you honestly see GWS actually getting him knowing he doesn't want to be there...wont happen....
it even stated in that last article, they are hoping to speak to him.....so all that we are seeing at the moment is GWS putting out the feelers for him to come in and have a look...but if they AFL have any involvment in this they would be utterly stupid as they wont be able to keep it a secret and it would be very easy for clubs to accuse them of draft tampering...so no matter their desires they will be treading on egg shells....
the first thing that needs to happen is the outcome of the investigationComment

Tippett?
I heard elsewhere that most of Izzy's dollars came from a marketing role OUTSIDE of GWS's salary cap. KT wouldn't be able to do that. GWS seems to have a decent forward line revolving around Patton and (that other bloke who is pretty good) so I dunno why they'd go after KT. They've seen what happens when he's at a club he has no passion for, why would it be any different at GWS?Comment

They're hardly going to say "he said he prefers the Swans, so we won't bother approaching him".
I still think it's bluff - position themselves as aggressive in the market but ultimately pull out, blaming us for offering too much, or Kurt for being unreasonable and not talking to them.
They'll need every cent in their salary cap to retain players going forward, so it would be a brave/risky move to commit a large amount of that to Tippett.Comment

I'm with you on this one Annie.....At this stage in his career, he's a good player...NOT a great player and not worth $1m a year....
They can have him...he'll clog up their diminishing cap over the next few years, which means there will be players ripe for the picking from GWS...already settled in Sydney.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

That's it, lock this thread!
If GWS genuinely want him we have no hope, they will get him.
Better that they have to get him through the ND because then they will need to use pick 3 to keep Brisbane at bay with pick 8. It will at least make them use a useful pick rather than get him for free in the PSD.Comment

Here's hoping GWS get him. Great for PR and the rivalry, and great for the Swans. At $1mill a year it seems to me that he throws the whole team's player value equation out. How do you value a Smith or Jack or Hannebery or Kennedy or any of our team of players against someone we don't even know will fit in? All our Bloods have earned their spots by embracing the culture. Tippett may have runs on the board elsewhere, but given his conduct through this sorry saga, for me he's an unknown.. And at GWS he'd serve the Premiership purgatory that he deserves for trying to cheat. Good riddance (although maybe he'd work out at $500K!)Comment

Anyway I don't buy that whole "I want play for anyone else" thing that is supposedly coming from Tippett. Why would we want someone with that sort of an attitude anyway? If he wants to play for us because we give him the best chance of a flag, to me that's a selfish and lazy attitude. Not the sort of player I want to be cheering on next year.....Comment

If it is meant to be with us getting him, then it is meant to be. As good as he would be for the team I just couldnt give a stuff anymore, that 3 week trade/free agency period just went on way way too long and from our point of view, for what??? Who's to say that he will be playing anywhere next year with the deregistration threat aswell.Comment

Seems to me that Tippett playing whatever cards he has left as skilfully as possible. That is, mouth firmly shut.
Everything is paper talk and guessing.
Apart from GWS grandstanding, and a tiny squeak from Voss, there has not been a whisper from anywhere else.
I mean , anyone else with the slightest bit of influence.
Conjecture is welcome and highly regarded but entertainment.... no more or less.Comment
