I don't think a lot of people on this forum realise that the time when Tippett can nominate his preferred club was over as soon as a trade period ceased. Once entering a draft, a player is barred from making any statement or taking any action (except stipulating his monetary demands) aimed at deterring a club from taking him. This is DRAFT TAMPERING. As is a club which takes any action to discourage another club from taking a player they are after.

There are only two ways that the Swans can get KT. GWS can't meet his contract demands, or believe his attitude/motivation and/or history may not represent value to money.

Heart not in it? Maybe they'll offer him $6 million over 4 years.....

does anyone know whether all other teams can have access to seeing how much the Swans have officially offered for Tippett ?

If other teams can not see what a another team offers a player for a Trade or Draft then then the spin of $1mill pa whether true or not is a great strategy !

"The Giants believe Tippett has been offered $4 million over four years by the Swans, who, until now, had appeared to be strongly favoured to snare Tippett, most likely in the pre-season draft for uncontracted and delisted players."

Absolutely correct, which I suspect is the reason why things have been very quiet from both the Tippett and Sydney camps since the trade period ended, wisely keeping a low profile until the draft. We shall see what happens!

Yeah, everyone knew he wanted Collingwood but nothing was said or done by Collingwood or Ball after the trade negotiations broke down and he went into the draft. Similarly, everyone knows KT wants the Swans, but that's as far as it goes.

That's not entirely correct, you can't do a Greg Chamers (spelling?) and write to clubs specifically telling them you don't and will not play with them if drafted.

However there is no compulsion for you to talk to other clubs if they ask or take a medical with them. You can also still maintain that you will only play for one club only, which is exactly the case for Luke Ball.

Agree with the first sentence; disagree with the second. A player is within his rights not to show any active interest in more than one club (eg by not talking to them). But that is not the same as indicating you will only play for one club. That would be draft tampering, even if you are only answering a direct question about who you will play for. If asked, Tippett is well within his rights to state, even now, that his preference is to play with the Swans. But as soon as he even hints that he won't play for another club, he is in trouble.

The best statement he and the club can make if that be the case is when they do their permission to train lodgements...KT and the club requesting that he train with the swans...not go and do any medicals and as stated just say i want to play with sydney then....
i thought in the luke ball case he made statements whether privately through his managment or publically that he didn't want to go to the Dee's (tankers)

Training with the Swans would put a stop to the GWS crap imo.

Swans do not return to training until 29 Nov, drafts are 22 Nov and 12 Dec so not really going to make a difference.

I think the whole competition knows he would prefer to play for Sydney next year. Don't think any reinforcement of that is required.
