Tippett?
I've checked this with Emma Quayle and her draft knowledge is extensive - Swans cannot pick him up outside of the draft. This would have been mentioned in every Tippett article and eliminated any chance of GWS taking him ... However they are still a chance because they obviously have higher picks than the Swans in the PSD. He will get to Swans if GWS cannot, or decide not to, match his asking contract.Comment

Tippett?
Tippett is the first one: "A player has served seven seasons or fewer of AFL football at one club, and is now out of contract - The player is not eligible for free agency if his club wishes to retain him. He may only move clubs via a trade or the draft. If he delists himself, he is subject to the draft, and may be selected by any club."Comment

A player has served seven seasons or fewer of AFL football at one club, and has been delisted by his club.
The player is a free agent and is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs.
The player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.
The player can move automatically to the new club of his choice.
His original club, which chose to delist him, does not receive any compensation pick for the loss of the player.
Did you get a specific reason from Emma Quayle why Adelaide cannot delist Tippett within the period specified for him to be eligible for the 2nd free agency period? I have not seen this matter addressed yet. I admit that I am not at all clear on this and would hope someone would state something definitive about it.Comment

Alison (and Woodie and liz from the preceding pages) is correct the rules are pretty clear. If the player in question has rejected a contract offer from his current club he cannot be picked up as a free agent regardless of when he was delistedComment

From Quayle
All delisted players are now eligible to sign with the club of their choice, as a delisted free agent, provided they have not rejected a contract offer from their club.Comment

On a related issue Brogan has now been delisted by GWS despite signing a new contract only a month ago ostensibly to make space for Tippett yet with the proviso that he will be redrafted if they do not get Tippett. Obviously this has all been done with the connivance of Brogan. This sounds fairly close to draft tampering to me and also highlights just how useless a contract may be in protecting a players rights. One option would now be for Sydney to draft Brogan though I would not expect this to be considered. Another issue is that Adelaide are in a bit of a bind in that they need to delist someone for the draft and they have been told apparently that at this stage this cannot be Tippett.Comment

The spin that's been coming out of AFC since this potential breach was discovered by the outside world would make anyone dizzy. "Honest, sir, as soon as we found out you knew about our illegal deal, we have been open and transparent. No way would we ever do anything against the mighty AFL." I hope any student of PR is watching it closely.
I still find the whole thing so entertaining.
The reality is the AFC whipped up a fury against KT for leaving the club after they cheated to keep him there in the first place. The vitriol against KT was unjustified. The AFC deserves its punishment, whatever that will be."Play like you can’t lose."Comment

Apparently Devo has jumped on the opportunity at hand and come out of retirement.
They are re-writing the words of their famous hit Whip it and calling it Tippet.
Bogan had announced his retirement last footy season. He was always going to stay on as a coach. GWS would be pretty stupid to recruit someone that does not want to be there. They probably are.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment
