Folau's pay was mostly outside the cap, so it doesn't have a direct impact on them gtting Tippett.

They wouldn't want to draft a player who doesn't want to be there, but I agree that it makes our job that little bit harder.

On another matter, it's good to see something else come up to bump this thread along again. It had gone just over 24 hours without a post before the Folau news broke.

Yeah, me too. $500k would seem about what he's worth... At this stage, he's a good player...not a dominant player, and not a great player by any stretch.

If he really wants to come to swans not GWS what is stopping him from asking for a million dollars for a one year contract and either going to GWS and only playing for the year then asking to be traded or coming to swans cos GWS don't want to pay that and then renewing his contract half way through next year for a longer term? Is there a legal way sound it? Just wondering.

All he has to do is stipulate in his contract that he wants a share of Taubert's Confectionary Snake's given to him personally by the said Steven T during his games.

It becomes the Taubert - Tippett snake deal. It then has opportunity to become "SnakeGate" if al the snakes aren't included in the AFL contract.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

If it's in the media, it must be true. We're doomed!

Anyone else think that the timing with Israel is a bit suspect? Was there any pressure from GWS (or AFL) regarding this?
Guess we won't have Kurt running around in red and white next year

Thinking about the track that the AFL seems to be heading down, where the good player will now go to the highest bidder, it seems extraordinary that football clubs, as with the Crows, are willing to 'sell their soul' in order to get or keep a player. It is now reported that Freo are already planning to entice Buddy to their club 2014 with an exhorbitant amount of money that the Hawks won't be able to match. The Hawks had Buddy this year and it didn't win them the flag - strange that!

I like it that we won the flag this year with an great team who put in a great team effort. Do we need KT so badly that we are willing to pay him probably twice what he is worth, with him becoming the highest paid player at the Swans as he was at the Crows? He is just not worth it - on so many levels. Just as well because GWS have probably already pencilled him in on their list!.

Some bloke rings up SEN and says his conspiracy theory is that now Falou has gone the GWS has plenty of Laurie, so instead of Tippett copping deregistration the AFL will tell him to go to GWS in lieu of and cop it sweet. Mark Allan amazingly agreed with the caller. If that was the scenario then the AFL would be guilty of draft tampering. Can hardly see it happening. Will be fascinating how it works out.

If there was any "assistance" from the AFL to get Tippett to GWS you would reckon his lawyers would be all over it like a cheap suit. This is going to be very interesting in the next month.

Ireland said early on that our offer was well under the 800k offered by the crows(trying to find the quote). Folau was paid mostly outside the salary cap so his retirement won't open up much space in the GWS cap.
