So we're arguing about the worth of bloke who is averaging 2.5 goals a game for us. Maybe we could replace him with those other guys who get us 2 or 3 goals a week.

This thread will eventually be seen as the Swans Life Of Tippett.
From before he was drafted through the rebellion against him, to the bitter end when he is put on the block.

He has his roll. Rucks ok, kicks 2.5 a game, takes a key defender to free up buddy/Goodsey, makes a contest to give the smalls an opportunity if/when it hits the deck.
And when we signed him at what many are bemoaning as overs, I'm not sure we would have entertained the thought of landing Buddy.Last edited by goswannies; 7 June 2015, 07:23 AM.Comment

Strange comments to be making after he's kicked three goals and been one of our better contributors, including his rucking. Thankfully Horse is in charge, not any of us, or Plugger for that matter. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. There was an interesting article in the Roar last week outlining how important Tippet is to our setup. It basically says he's very useful to the side in his role. I'm not digitally literate enough to post the link...maybe someone more skilled can do it... ???? I agree his marking needs work, but 2+ goals per game seems a handy contribution.Comment

I'm not sure why he was subbed out yesterday, but it looks to me that Longmire wasn't happy with him. It looks like Tippet can't assert himself on the opposition the way Buddy can. I'm sure Longmire will try something else, but last night performance wasn't that good against weak opposition. You can't have two of the best forwards being a decoy if nobody else is kicking goals. Look at our stats (goals for) and you will see where is our problem.Comment

One of them is likely to get you... If Buddy doesn't then Kurt will typically. If neither do, then we have the Goodes, or the Parker or Benny or ?? that can sneak in and kick a goal pf 2. The opposition needs to have a very good player on Kurt and this is good for the other forwards.
And BTW it would not be easy to be the back up Ruck and key forward. Particularly since his slow start to the season with injury.. Keep fit and we all can hope he has more good games than bad. WE all live in hope he will bring his finals form in his last game at Adelaide at some time to the Swans.
Some time soon would be even better... IMO. (and for the selectors - couple of tall's starting to get back on the paddock and will be looking for a ruck position in the seniors Derixx or Naismith)

I think the strategy was to have Tippo share the ruck duties with Pyke with the hope that Pyke could regain his contested marking and goal kicking form that he had when he shared the rucking with Mummy. But it hasn't worked and Pyke has been pretty useless outside of the ruck contest. I think we should revert back to Todd Goldstein type ruck-till-you-drop role for Pyke and let Tippo play forward except for giving Pyke the occasional spell. This should hopefully give him a bit more energy to move up ground a bit and hopefully get some separation from his defender.Comment

Imagine how long a thread about Nic nat would be one here - I really don't think he is as good as he is drummed up to be by the media. Has his moments, but he isn't dominant in the same way someone like Sandipants is. Will continue to improve and has seemed to take a step up since Cox retired."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Longmire now in print (Swans website) telling you knockers to shut up coz you don't know the game plan regarding Tippett. Also adds that he is having a quiuet patch but still very important to the overall structure.
So now that the boss has spoken, let's shut up for a while eh?!Comment
