He is obviously an important cog in the overall structure of the team. And he plays OK to well, most weeks. Personally I think he's going pretty well.

But is his output worthy of him being the second highest paid player($700-$800k pa) on our list?.....I think not.

A dominant performance in a big game, like a final, would change my opinion.

Otherwise, I think he could be on the trade table, to free up cap space, for the likes of Hannebery and other stars, to stay on our list

      Um. No.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

We've paid a Lamborghini price but gotten BMW performance to date - pretty good, but still not what we were initially paying for.

I wouldn't mind the price, if he didn't need to be serviced as frequently for faulty parts as often as your average BMW too

We don't have to trade him to get more cash for others; we simply "equalise" his pay.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Read somewhere in last couple of days that last year we were 17/18th for hit outs to advantage, this year up to third. That means Pyke and Tippett must be doing something right!

Can anyone remember what the structure of Tippett's deal was? I thought it was very heavily forward loaded, so his 3rd and 4th year would see him on much less $$$ than the first 2.

Seems to ring a bell with me too.

I was under the impression that it was a 2 year fixed deal on 8-900k then the following 2 years were an option depending on how many games he played etc. I'd say his current salary would be much closer to 600k than 750k

True. And the stats of wins with and without tippett show he's required.

Its like the criticism of our backline in particular Rampe, Reg, and the aging Ted..... but we have the least points score against.

However, I do think we have a weakness. Our midfield is good, but a bit overrated. There are a lot of good players, but no absolute star.

I think by the end of this season Hanners will be seen as one of the best in the game. Parker could be seen that way too if he finds that elite form he showed last year.

I would think Hanners foots that bill, clearly the only threat to Fyfe in this years Brownlow. Kennedy as well, at least his 'old' form, not at the moment though......what is wrong with him, fatherhood not agreeing with him/taken his focus away?

Quite possibly, but who could blame him for that.

Back OT, maybe Sam could have more of a run in the ruck role. He may lose the hit out but if he plays like he did against Freo he becomes an additional big bodied midfielder and may help our clearances. This can give Tippo more time/energy to lead his defender around the F50 ... maybe???

Would Tippett be the slowest guy in the side ? Doesn't help his cause

Will be very interesting to see his game tomorrow and any subsequent response from Longmire.
