-sigh- Not Reid's year and in all honesty it's probably not ours. We were supposed to see Reid and Tippett together, with Goodes allowed to roam the midfield, and Jetta streaming through when needed.

All three of those scenarios are at least a month away and maybe 2. If we win the flag this year it'll be better than 05/12 combined.

It's the straw that's broken this metaphorical camel's back. I regret to say that I now share that opinion, and hearby abandone my expectations of going back to back.

Too many injuries to too many talls, and too many fast players.

I don't know if its time to hoist the white flag yet. Few would disagree that the team that beat Adelaide is capable of destroying any team in the competition. Here it is:

          White Mumford. McGlynn
          Bolton. Goodes. Morton.
          Jack. Hannebery. Everitt
          McVeigh Grundy Rampe
          Malceski. Richards. Smith
          ROK Kennedy Pyke

          Int: Mitchell Parker Bird
          Sub: BJ

The only loss from that lineup is Goodes (though that's a big one), but we've gained Tippett. Granted we're sailing close to the wind on injuries, but it's not going home time yet. The players asked to step up are doing well and we've got some big ins in the offing. Have a bit of faith in Longmire and the lads.

I recall Longmire saying that, to win a premiership, you need to find a way to manufacture wins when things are not going your way. They're going pretty much going by the play book at the moment.

It's not just the number of injuries. It's the number that are long-term/season-/career-ending. Doesn't look like LRT will be back this year.

            Doubts over LRT - SYDNEYSWANS.com.au

On the upside Shaw and Jetta train this week.

Nuh. Only 50% better. Long way off. Big doubt that LRT will be back this year. Goodes and Reid cutting it fine. Shaw probably OK. Obviously Matner and AJ gone. Big upside - ROHAN!!!!

Sounds like Jetta is also touch and go to return this season. If he doesn't get back on the track in around 3 weeks, he won't be ready for finals.

I think we need to plan for the final two games and finals without Goodes, Reid and LRT. Jetta and Shaw are a chance but who knows.

I just want Reid wrapped in cotton wool so it doesn't become a yearly issue. Get him right, even if it means he returns in 2014.

My misprint. Meant to say Jetta and Shaw MIGHT train this week.

All that's left from last year's finals series is the midfield/rucks and a few stray defenders.

Alistair Lynch (Rhyce Shaw's manager) said during today's commentary Shaw will play for the twos next week against the Suns.

Rhyce also confirmed this himself at the half time interval.

Jetta still five weeks away if all goes well!

Looks like we can't rely on Reid, Jetta, LRT to be fit and firing for the finals. We're out of replacements now, only Shaw on the immediate comeback trail but even then still 3-4 weeks before he is seniors ready.

Can see Cunningham and Lloyd getting called up in the next few games!

For a club with such high standards in most areas, you have to seriously question our management of injuries. I questioned this in 2010 and now the same thing has happened this year with:

                            - Shaw
                            - LRT
                            - Jetta
                            - Reid
                            - Goodes (maybe harsh to include but at a minimum it was a mis-diagnosis which cost us a couple of weeks by not having surgery straight away)

Over the past few years it's actually harder to nominate injuries where players actually returned in the expected timeframes. I'm sure they have an explanation for each one, but I don't see other clubs having such a volume of recurrences or players that end up indefinite.

I compared the 2 2012 Grand Final teams to see how bad we'e been with injuries.
I was surprised by the results.

The Number 2013 of games by all players (after 13 games).
                              Swans: 227
Hawks: 212 (Clinton Young went to Pies so his games aren't included.)

We had 12 players play every game.
Hawks had 8 players play every game.

both have 6 players who have played less than 10 games.

We have 1 playing no games (AJ).
They have 2 (Suckling same as AJ, and Young(Pies))

I've just updated my list to include the last 2 games.
                                SS: 256
                                HH: 242

SS: 12 players to play all games
HH: 6 players to play all games

SS has 5 players to play less than 10 games (not that Sam play much of that game)
                                HH have 6.
