Don't mean to be glum, but in defence of the Pies supporters who were in the same bay, they were also upset about the incident. We were right behind the goals in Great Southern Stand and when that young lady was escorted away, the whole bay (which was 70% pies) was booing and showing how unhappy they were with the whole thing.Comment

I had SUCH a good night. The family went out so I was by myself on the lounge. Cue the pizza and beer for the first half and follow with a nice Islay scotch for the second half and had my dog snuggle into me while watching us pants the pies. Heaven!
A couple of thoughts:
Our forward entries straightened up last night. Not sure if it was because we had a natural forward there (Morton) or if our mids were simply lowering their eyes each time. I think it the first led to the second as Morton is not the sort of player you can bomb it to, and the mids were probably under instruction.
I was impressed by how many times we actually honoured leads in the forwards as well. It was the first time this year that I have seen us do that consistently.
I thought Reid looked to be regaining form until he went off. As soon as I heard that Larkin had said he would be out for 4 weeks I was disappointed, but then remembered that this information came from the same guy who said Teddy did his knee in the prelim. I was much more optimistic then.
I was disappointed by the post game analysis on channel Rex as well. I was looking forward to hearing them laud our boys, only to hear nothing but commenting about the words of an over-excited, silly young girl. There was NO comment about how we beat them or how well we played.
Finally, it grieves me to say it, but Eddie last night showed real leadership. I now have a grudging respect for the man who seems to do everything he can to place hurdles in front of our club. The way he responded was the way every club would want their president to react. Well played that man.Comment

And I thought the commentators showed real class as well....it must be hard when it's unfolding before your eyes and you have to say something. They didn't jump to conclusions - imagine if Ray Hadley or Sam Newman had been the commentators !
But, having said that, it must be "Heaven" when a story like that drops in front of the eyes of journalists on the first night of the "Indigenous Round" - this will keep the presses rolling for days as everyone has their say !
Got to feel a bit for the little girl who copped in on national live TV - if she was a GWS Giants supporter or another lesser profile club then it woldn't go on like this. But how bad is it when a Magpie barracker is in the frame ? Her life will never be the same again and, of course, we might all have the story wrong anyway as it unfolds.
So, go easy on the little girl until until it all comes out but mostly, like Dosser says, well played Eddie...I hate you but you were all class in the crisis and I admire your quick thinking and grace.Comment

Don't you ever wonder if the word 'vilification' is actually understood by everyone? Perhaps the term "slagging off" should be introduced.
Read some comments on media newspaper and facebook sites, and some of it is gob smackingly awful. So many people seem to be completely in the dark still about how a human being should treat another human being. Some of it put what the girl said multiple layers down the level of nastiness she expressed to Adam, and that shocked me. Its going to be a long haul and I am not sure if the roots of the weeds involved will ever be fully eradicated.
I may call a certain Freo player a little twerp, but in my mind that is not what this is about. Or is it?

thast why i watched it on foxtel...their post game analysis was really good...they focused a little bit on what happened to goodsey, but i reckon at least 80% was how the swans beat the pies..so well done to the foxtel boys....
missed the first half, but rapped when i seen the score and was really pleased the way they played the 3rd to stay on top...though i must way the first half of the last i was getting a bit worried....Comment

I was so impressed with the turnaround by Mumford.. Heaps of effort and so much more effective. Best game by him this year by a country mile.Comment

Would also like to highlight McGlynn. I think he's been pretty good over the last couple of weeks - not getting huge numbers but throwing himself into contests and working his butt off. Last night his efforts were tremendous, and he set the scene early for the kind of effort the team needed - and needs each week - to put in.Comment

Adam Goodes press conference at 11am with Andrew Demetriou to speak after him. Will be live on Fox Sports News ...Lord, help me to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
And if there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went!

I agree it was big Mummy's best game for the year and it showed in the centre clearances . We got trashed in the centre clearances last week and this week was a different story. I also though Everitt did not look too bad down back. I think the backline suits him better. But overall I thought we still did not play that well. Lots of fumbling, poor kicking but tackling and pressure was good. Talking about racial abuse, why did the Collingwood supporters boo Goodsey everytime he got the ball in the last quarter? Personally I thought he was a one man wrecking crew on the night. amazing effort! Did that stupid young girl just join in with the other supporters thoughts???Comment

The witch hunt begins. I hope the kid survives it.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Just back home in Canberra and had moments to reflect on last night excellent performance.
- Our hard gut running was back in vengeance. The pies work rate was poor, but they just could not go with us. Slingshot footy really is a treat to watch when it goes well (unless you ask the Pies fan next to me that said he really 'doesn't like this slingshot footy, its a blight on the game' - thankfully that goose went off to the bar at half time and didn't come back!
- A really solid effort across the park. Very hard to pick out any players that didn't play well. That was a trademark of our footy last year - all 22 guys really contributing.
- As always, the big names stood up. Goodes was sensational, O'Keefe back to his best, Hanners fabulous again (I think he is worth an each way bet in the brownlow, he has been so good all season), McVeigh calm as ever.
- Good to see Bird get some kudos for the fantastic job he did on Swan in the first half. I don't care what anyone else thinks, but he is a really important player in our setup.
- Our back six worked superbly together I thought. Collingwood had lots of inside 50's, but very little quality ball from midfield, and we controlled their forwards with ease.
- Oh and big Q is as rubbish as ever
- Finally, Collingwood fans will never cease to amaze with their stupidity. I had one lady behind me, must be just about blind, as she spent the whole game whining about the free kicks, Collingwood should have a free here, there and everywhere. When I turned around and politely told her to look at the free kick count at 3/4 time, she thankfully stopped blabbering on! Also, the abuse (non-racial thankfully) that Goodes got from a few guys a few rows down from me was shameful to say the least. They should admire a player as good as he is, and feel that they are blessed to see such a talent play the game.
All in all, a wonderfully satisfying trip down to Melbourne, and if that is a sign of things to come, we are in for another very good season!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Obviously what the girl did was very wrong; Goodes' actions were the right thing to do, Eddie was good, and all the televised and published sentiment is right on the money.
However, I just think that for a teenage girl to make an extremely thoughtless mistake, probably to impress her friends, being embarrassed in front of millions of people is punishment enough for the action. If she's genuinely sorry, then don't identify her, and let it go. If all these people are genuinely up in arms about her ignorance, then this is what they would do, and a her attitude has been changed and she is a better person. But something tells me it won't end there...what a surprise.
I actually think it is unreasonable and unfair to crucify and annihilate a little thoughtless girl for days/weeks on end, potentially ruining her whole life, for making a stupid comment. But the media are scum, and any sort of 'story' they can drag out is a good thing to them.
How many ******d up things have you heard yelled at a football match in your time? But they aren't crucified simply because it's out of earshot of a particular player? Same attitude, same crime. It's not sensational enough, even if someone next them reports it.
And at the end of the day, this becomes the story, not our impressive win over premiership contenders - a formidable return to form by the reigning premiers.
I'd rather talk all day about how well Goodes played."Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the Swans win pretty."Comment
