I have emailed the Herald Sun telling them exactly what I think about their attempts to subject this child to trial by media and encourage others to follow suit.

What worries me is she said what our supporters where saying in the Collingwood crowd. He crime was saying it so Goodsey could hear it. This stupid Ape/monkey comment is still common at the footy. I just wonder if those supporters call Harry O'Brien and Krakeour Apes as well!

correction: I meant her supporters/ not our supporters.
I have to add a comment on a favourite. MikePyke had 11 disposals, four marks - three contested, and two goals. He is a good ruckman and has become a real headache for defenders. A formidable presence, great pair of hands (look ma, no gloves!), and a reliable kick. And seems to be a leader in thinking about his game and working on it with a view to constant improvement.
I'm so pleased we were the ones who gave him a go.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
We did to the Wobbles what Geelong did to us.
The Swans were desperate and hard at the ball.
THey ran hard and played the game like it was a GF.
Awesome to watch at any time.
x10 when it's against the Magpies
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.
I am actually really concerned for this young lady. Something like this could potentially lead to suicide...
She will cop so much crap in the next few weeks from every single person at her school. Her friends will turn to enemies.
I really hope things settle down immediately and the media steer well clear of her and her family.
I agree it was big Mummy's best game for the year and it showed in the centre clearances . We got trashed in the centre clearances last week and this week was a different story. I also though Everitt did not look too bad down back. I think the backline suits him better. But overall I thought we still did not play that well. Lots of fumbling, poor kicking but tackling and pressure was good.Talking about racial abuse, why did the Collingwood supporters boo Goodsey everytime he got the ball in the last quarter? Personally I thought he was a one man wrecking crew on the night. amazing effort! Did that stupid young girl just join in with the other supporters thoughts???
Really?? I must have watched a different game......
I would rather dwell on our great game last night but can't resist one comment on the racial slander towards Goodesy. Should Adam have just shrugged the taunt off and got on with it? As some have mentioned, all sorts of defamatory things get called out at the footy.
The whole thing has made me realise how little some of us understand what it is like to live your entire life having to fight for acceptance. I think what must have been so shattering to Adam was the context. Here he was an Aboriginal man who has achieved so much in his life across cultures, highly respected by many, playing his heart out to be the very best representative of his culture in the first game of the Indigenous round, and someone calls him - to his face, an 'ape'. I can imagine, just in that moment, a feeling of despair - like what do I/we have to do. It is sort of like a black South African man being called 'boy' by white South Africans - a superiority/inferiority intent.
Adam was not to know that his reaction was going to play out in the way it has, that he did react reminds us that careless words in certain situations have the power to hurt deeply.

Then again she might be a hero at school! Life works in funny ways at that age.
My Kiwi, sports hating girlfriend saw her first ever AFL game last night. She shamefully admitted to enjoying herself and got caught up cheering the boys on!
