I think that is the right way to look at it Jewels
    That's how I do anyway.
Then is you assess the other trades made, it really doesn't look so bad.
Armstrong would have been delisted anyway.
Everitt was probably an ok trade, although I would have wanted a bit more - maybe the pick outright
White was poor from my POV, but I seem to think more of him than most, so am probably wrong in my assessment of his abilities.
It seems Lamb was going to walk regardless, perhaps because he thought he deserved more chances.

The draft will be interesting, especially to see how many picks we use, and if any are saved for the pre season draft. I'd say that we will save at least one.

Lamb is not going because of the opportunities offered by GWS but because the offer "almost trebled what the Swans put on the table for the 20 year old who played 12 matches this season in his debut year." It's why he said a month ago he was looking forward to playing next year with Franklin, fully intending to be at the Swans in 2014 but that was before GWS offered him such a lucrative contract. Cant blame him when the Swans three year offer is close to what he will ear in the first year at GWS.

I've taken the liberty of moving the posts discussing which players we might look to be drafting to the 'Draft Strategy' thread so as to keep them in once place, rather than spread across two threads.

And we never ended up doing a deal for Lamb, a win for us (psychologically anyway) as it forces GWS to use a PSD pick that they may have planned to use elsewhere and forces the player who wasn't quite so loyal into unknown territory.
Maybe look at it like we exchanged Mummy for Buddy and perhaps it will look different.
Think this is a fair assessment. We lost no-one of huge value (Mummy needs to be replaced but that should be achievable) and the combined salaries off our list with Mummy, Dre, Lamb and White more than cover Buddy coming in. The difference between the salaries of Mattner, Morton and Jude over any pay increases plus the salary cap increase of about $500K can be used to lock in talent as a pre-emptive strike before the salary cap starts to bite in 2015 and 2016.

We play this game better than anyone else with the possible exception of Hawthorn who will be truly dangerous next Free Agency period

Nahas anyone? I remember seeing him dominate with pace and goal kicking ability 2 years ago. Rookie draft maybe?

What ever Happened to Nahas? I too remember he was one of the most improved players in the league a couple of years back, now he's being delisted. Might be worth a shot In the same vein as Morton was. Would be good depth cover, and if he could recapture the form he showed a while back, could be very handy indeed.

Fell out of favour with hardwick. Their relationship was strained after Nahas was so demonstrably upset that he was sub for a game in the early rounds of season. From then he was on fringe.

I would like to see him be given a go. I thought he was always quite good.

Wouldn't make sense to sign Nahas while we still have McGlynn. We might not have room for 1 of this kind, let alone 2.

Could someone please tell me if Jed Lamb is still able to accept the offer the Swans made to him if he changed his mind? I may have missed this somewhere along the line but has he actually nominated for one of the drafts or not yet?

He's still officially contracted to the Swans until next Thursday so he is at liberty to accept a contract extension until then. After that he will be presumably nominating for the PSD. Can't see him nominating for the ND as I doubt GWS would use picks 1 or 2 on him and after that he's open for everyone.

Just like they made promises to Paul Bevan.
