One thing learned in this trade period is that there isn't much depth in the depth-player pool. A decent player outside the 22 will take an opportunity elsewhere for more playing time or money.
Our depth players are Tommy Walsh, LRT and the younger players.
Really need a ruckman Pyke was very good playing the ruck and forward role but towards the end of the year the good teams hurt us when he was trying to defend down back.
Very nervous about having to rely on Pyke as our only recognised ruckman
Guess we have KT and LRT as backup and Naismith on the rookie list. Tall order to draft a Brodie Grundy who can step up at 18...
I wouldn't be surprised to see us rookie draft a mature ruckman like Seaby or even Jolly. St Kilda were interested in Jolly, but may pass not that they've signed Billy Longer. There are probably a few others playing in the state leagues that do a reasonable backup job. We also may look to draft someone like 21 yo VFL ruck-forward Ben Brown, who looks a bit ahead of Naismith and may well be a good long term prospect. Pick 39 or 44 may be enough to get him.
I think 32 will be a hard ask to get Everitte to Carlton. Why don't we try and and move up a couple of places in round 1 or two or give offer Carlton our last 3rd round pick and Everitte for 32?

Fair call, I believe Jolley could still do a job for at least on season and also draft a long term ruck prospect to develop next year in the twos.
It's not ideal but manageable I'd say.
Apparently Carlton want us to take pick 51 or something like that for Dre. Tell em they are dreaming

Swans can probably afford to hold strong on Everitt and see if Carlton blink. They don't have the early PSD draft pick luxury that GWS have, plus the Swans might also think there is still a chance to persuade Everitt to change his mind if they don't trade him - which is quite probably their preferred option. Faced with going into the draft and an uncertain destination, Everitt might decide he is better off staying put, especially when earlier reports were that he wanted ideally to stay at the Swans (subject to them actually offering him a contract).
