I would expect both picks 49 and 67 to come in with the trades of White and Armstrong to Collingwood (67 for 45) and Dre and Mumford to GWS (49 for 35). That would give us some reasonable draft picks given our track record of drafting rough diamonds.

Would think that GWS would be open to a bundled deal for Dre and Mummy as it lets them keep their number 1 PSD pick up their sleeve...
    I'm smelling the following:

Pies and GWS to work out a trade for Shaw and Adams and with a swap of draft picks that will give the Pies the GWS 3rd Rd draft pick as part of the deal.
The Pies then pass on the GWS 3rd Rd pick to us for White. Not sure where this leaves Armstrong but I'm hearing the Pies are keen on him as insurance for losing Shaw. We may sell him cheap to Pies for a later Rd draft pick.
I'd be very happy if we can get something for a Mumford/Everitt package as GWS have us by the proverbials on Mumford. Maybe the Pies 2nd Rd pick (on passed to us) going to GWS as part of the Shaw/Adams/draft pick swap deal.

I imagine Vince is not overly likely, but sheesh it'd be a huge lift for GWS if they can add Andrejs, Mummy and Shaw to their team next year.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

dont know if this will factor in... but i cant see armstrong going to any club other than gws or the swans because of the fact that he loves sydney. sydney is his home. he grew up always being a swans supporter and loves it up here (that may well be the reason why he hasnt grasped his opportunity yet). i also think he has 1 year left on his contract (is that right?) and will likely see that out and then either get a new contract with the swans if he has a great season (and it'll be a cheap contract if he does get one) or get dumped (doubtful his value will go up if at all. and if he has another crap season i dont think anyone will want him)

i do hope if he's here next year that he does have a great season. he is very talented and he has improved his form late in the ressie season. the games he did play for the seniors in 2013 were rubbish, but when he's in form, his field kicking is phenomenal

I would think they'd be pushing pretty hard for Vince. They are a long way behind the pack but with smart recruitment they should be able to bridge the gap fairly quickly. Andrejs, Mummy and Shaw should be the quality of at least half a dozen recruits they need if they are any chance of winning 5-6 games next year. Vince would be another good addition plus you'd think they could get some real quality for their round 9 pick.

Hard to see how they cannot be competitive in the short term (on the field at least) with Patton, Cameron and Boyd asthier three talls up front...

Yeah, they're the kind of players they should have been chasing rather than Buddy. I'd have thought Chapman would be brilliant for GWS (assuming he's fit). A class player with mongrel who wouldn't cost much.

For a pure football perspective Buddy never made sense but a la the Folau experiment they are desperate to do anything to get any relevance in the west of Sydney. I really do think the AFL has totally underestimated the amount of effort in getting that mob to have anything much over 10,000 - 12,000 average crowds (taking out all the freebies they have been offering to date). The on field stuff is actually the least of their concerns - getting a part of Sydney to watch AFL where NRL and soccer are entrenched, and where any supporters of the game already have a team (Us!!) is a nut that will take some cracking.

For us it is a calculated gamble and one worth taking I believe.

Thought Chappy would be good for them too but he is off to Windy Hill apparently, guess the Bomber being coach would be a huge factor plus not having to relocate

PS - how excruciating is a three week trade period....
Yep, I reckon the No.1 pick in the pre season draft is a valuable pick to keep open for GWS...

It's the best available player, who is already in the system. And seasoned players is what they need right now.

So you'd think we'll get something more than a poke in the eye for Mummy...Particularly if he's bundled with Everitt.

And yes, 3 weeks is just too long...Lots of cloak and dagger, mixed with sitting on hands...Then the predictable scramble in the last few days.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

You can't trade pre-season (last draft of season) picks.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

ernie's point is that GWS will be looking to shake loose another uncontracted player that they can nab for free with the first pick in the PSD. If they don't organise a trade for Mummy, that option is gone

So Everitt isn't being offered a contract? Why not? He may not be best 22 but he's incredibly handy. We lose him, Mumford and White and our best back-up big man is Walsh.

                            So I guess Buddy's cool about pinch-hitting at half-back.

It's dissapointing we lose a bit of depth now, and aren't in a position to be recruiting any more in. Hope the injury gods are kind next year..
