If they want Jed and Everitt then they will probably need to offer a fair trade upgrade (Pick 48 has no use to us).
If they want Jed, Everitt and PSD Pick 1 then our position is stronger ((of course we won't know if this the case but I reckon it probably is)
I'd offer Jed and Dre for 35 to 21 upgrade. That is more than fair. Part of me would like us to completely scupper their strategy by sending Dre and Jed to the PSD. I would have had no issue with us have a complete trading ban with them but I guess that would be a little petty
This should pretty much be the last time that the Bogans control the draft. From next season on their main issue will be the list of young players coming off contract wanting to get the hell out of that joke of a club. This season is critical for them, reckon 5 wins is the absolute minimum required. I'll be death-riding them as usual

Dre would be a good addition for Melbourne. I'd like to see them do OK next season, they actually have the makings of a reasonable sideComment

"AFL Draft, Trade, Free Agency, List and General News
Tony Armstrong has landed himself in a bit of a pickle. He knocked back a move to Collingwood and now Sydney are about to delist him."I See It But I Don't Believe It!!!!Comment

That idiot Mathews is still going on about the Buddy deal being irresponsible. Get over it, you lost you fool !!!!!!!!
The man just doesn't know how to let go. Great maturity leading GWS.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

The media ran with GWS, understandably, as his destination from the minute he announced all talks would be held over to the end of the season. Pickering was also happy to run with the GWS flow because it took the pressure off trying to get a deal brokered with the Swans.
You're right tho Billy, he needs to move on, they haven't exactly done poorly from us with the Mummy deal with other deals still to play out.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

C: Crouch McVeigh McGlynn
HF Franklin Tippett Goodes
F: O'Loughlin Longmire ROK
R: Pyke JPK Jack

This sort of player movement we are seeing, for more money and better opportunities is the way of the world in the age of free agency. The public, fans, club administrators and journos need to adjust. You don't have to be an official free agent to quit your club; if you are out of contract, you can just strike a deal with another club and quit your present club and depending of circumstances, like PSD position, there's not much a club can do about it. Chances are you are going to get where you want go.
The Giants have squandered all that AFL cash to escalate the bidding war for players which will be a huge detriment to the league in the long run. They're collecting players like vintage cars. They're going to have a lot of them sitting in the garage, collecting dust. We are well on the way to seeing the kind of transfers that are usual fare for other sports. Prices will go up. Stars will be moving at every opportunity. The Swans management seem to understand this and perhaps that's why they aren't putting up much of a fight. We got our man; we knew we had to lose a few players to get him on board; we selected the players we felt we could lose and simply didn't offer them contracts, or offered them poor ones. This has been in the works a long time, otherwise Mummy would have had a contract a long time ago. It seems this player loss has been well anticipated.
Draft picks are greatly devalued now. What's the point in drafting a young star if they just quit the club a few years later when there contract has expired. You take on the development cost, while another club reaps the benefit. You are seeing some of the smarter clubs, like the Swans and GC, locking up the most critical players with long term contract. It's more important than ever to be seen as a club that players want to go to. The Swans have got a big lead in the culture wars, which bodes well for the future.Comment

Richard Colless was a no frills back pocket in the Wafl wasn't he?...Surely a spot on the bench is deserved.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Surely our list guys should have seen these departures coming. Disappointed with weak mummy trade (39) and will be even further disappointed if Lamb goes for a pittance too. We really need to nip this in the bud, GWS are bending us over.Comment

Best strategy is for us to create an environment that players want to be in and try and re-sign players 12-18 months before their deals end. Can see longer term deals becoming more common with 4+ year deals for the top 15-20 players in any AFL club.
Mummy was disappointing but given that GWS missed out on him and have an additional $1M in their salary cap there was no way we could afford him once Buddy signed.
I believe Mummy is relatively easy to replace and that none of the other losses to date (including Dre as he will probably still leave) are in our top 20.Comment

I'm a little disappointed that Jed is going but not devastated. Losing a Parker or Hanners would have been far more of a blow. Both of them seem to love the club and never thought about leaving.Comment
