I'd agree with this, he clearly has an X-Factor and is often compared to Nic Nat. An incredibly long bow at this stage I know but they clearly see him as having some massive upside potential. Obviously a longer term project but I will be keen to get down and watch him in the twos.

I'd judge this one after a good year full time training in the AFL system and playing in the twos

      I'm happy.

Nackas looks solid and ready to work. Plus he is a footballer.

Jones kid looks built and ready to go in the 2's, Him and parker will be a decent combo inside mids as kennedy and co slow down. Or as a nuggety backmen.
Didn't seem that slow in the clips. especially at one point he really turned it on.

That Kenyan Aliir Aliir looks a great size for a backmen, and moves really well. Look a natural footballer, not like the americans etc.

Hewiit looks like a small that could get lost or could be a find. unsure.

All in all i'm pretty happy. I think we covered some areas well.

I like our United Nations. Kenya, Ireland, America, Canada

Suspect Lobb was the preferred option but he was not available. Big-bodied, a year older than most recruits so could be ready as a backup second half of the season if required

Fair enough - judgement reserved. I hope he does well and on a more personal level, I am really happy for the kid.

I thought Zak's pace and acceleration looked reasonable when he got to open spaces. Is he being groomed for a R Shaw replacement? I wouldn't be surprised if he played a few games next year at senior level. But all this opinion is based on assessment of his performance in a 2 minute highlights clip.
I'm certainly no expert, it's just what I thought when watching him...If he turns out to have that Bevo mongrel, mixed with a better footy brain, that would be a good mix...

I do reckon his early days will be back pocket or tagging.

Serious question. If Mumford was Mummy and we lost our Mummy have we got a Nanna in Nankervis?

Excellent point Legs. I'd be happy with a Nanna now that I have lost my Mummy.

Was expecting Auntie Gerald to point that out.

Any body else think we got Jones incase we lose smith as a free agent next year?

If this thread can be likened to tedious, wet and stoppage-heavy footy, you have just burst out of the pack and snapped from an impossible angle for a goal on your non-preferred.

I was thinking that with Jones being talked up as a small defender, that could be the opportunity to release Smith into more of a midfield role next year....

We might have to revert to the "Foreign Legion" nick name again given all our internationals!

We got Jones because we already had Smith, Brown and Robinson - perhaps the most common surnames in the phone book. And now we've lost Brown. Perhaps we should go after an Ng.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
