Mitchell vs Lloyd and others

I've been very impressed with the skill level and decision making of both Cunningham and Lloyd. For such young players to have adjusted so quickly to senior footy, they would seem to be on a good trajectory for long careers. With these 2 doing so well this year, it really is a full house in the midfield.

We've had an unusual run of good fortune with midfield picks and trades. If things continue this way, you would think something has to give and we won't be able to retain everyone. It doesn't mean the one to go elsewhere is Mitchell. But good players want to play senior footy. I don't think this year-end has to be the year for these decisions. We can wait another season and see how things go with injuries and the development of players like Perris, Robinson, Hewett and Jones.

A great friend of mine was a world class womaniser in his younger days. I beautiful young starlet was expressing frustration to him on his conquests.

He said to her in response "don't hate the player, hate the game".

I say therefore to the Red and White community " don't hate the pundit (me), hate the game" (trades do occur even to father/son players).

The issue has been that after raising the point, which wasn't without some merit, you seem to have treated it like an argument that needed to be won. It isn't - RWO is all about throwing up ideas, comments, theories, observations etc which then may or may not get kicked around for a while. It's not about incessantly arguing a point until it's either won or lost.

You put it out there, and plenty of people have now had their say about the idea. Now let it go

I think most of us Matt80 just think it is insane to look to trade a player (unless of course he wants to go) that is as good as Tom Mitchell. But I'd hardly take Leigh Matthews to be an expert on this matter - surely he is just taking a guess out of thin air (unless he has some secret source!)

If Tommy wants a trade I wouldn't let him go for anything less than a first rounder. However, he did choose the swans for a reason, and while there may not be a spot for him at the moment, I'm quite certain there will be next year, even later on this season depending on injuries. I doubt the swans would lose him without doing their utmost to convince him he is a big part of our future. I'm a more little more concerned about Rohan at this stage, the call home and more oppurtunity may be a strong lure for the young Rooster. Hopefully he has faith that a spot will open up for him to soon enough, if he gets his body and form where it needs to be.

Or perhaps he harbours hope, that he may be able to lure him to Brisbane next year.

But, IMO, he'll be back in the side soon enough, and all this baseless, speculation will subside.

Matt, RWO provides a forum for viewpoints and ideas to be put forward. Neither right nor wrong. Some of them maybe a little controversial. But that's cool as I have put a few out there as well. But they create debate. And that is a good thing as it provokes thought and expression. I actually enjoy reading your viewpoints and ideas. Mostly lol. I have only been a member of the RWO community for about 5 months. But I love it. Though my wife is always questioning why I am always checking my phone. She just doesn't get it.

Thanks Flying South. I sometimes wonder about the mobile phone thing. My wife reads her twitter for half an hour before bed and I catch up on the Red and White.

I love mobile phones but they are a nightmare. When I take my little boy for sport activities I deliberately leave my phone in the car so I'm not distracted.

I spent the whole time on the bus ride home from the Swans game reading the red and white comments. I should have had the phone in my pocket and engaged with people in the bus. The sad part was that 80% of people on the bus were doing the same thing I was.
