Changes for Round 10 V Geelong

My guess is McGlynn in, Jack out and that's it.

Its clear Mitchell is hitting a nice patch of form, but its hard to see what midfielder he would come in for. Maybe Lloyd, but he has not played poorly at all, and it would be exceptionally harsh on him if he was dropped.

I think they will be very cautious with Pyke, given the very important role he will play for us across the year,and the problems we've had with hamstrings in our big guys in recent years.

I read his T.Mitchell comment (he was cut off) as more of a "in the mix" line of thought.

lloyd is great value but in my opinion Mitchell over the next few games will prove his weight in gold

unless Laidler is dropped and Lloyd stays..... which is possible if the Cats come with lots of smalls

Lloyd has done some fantastic things under pressure this year. Doesn't surprise me. Good decision maker. Very impressed.

I'm sure Tom Mitchell will get his senior recall soon enough. Injuries come all too often, and he should be the next in when that happens. But right now we've won 5 on the trot and seem to have a pretty good mix of players. The ones closest to the fringe (Lloyd, Cunningham and Laidler) are all playing well and making a solid contribution. It doesn't send a great message to drop any of them after producing in the reserves week in and week out to get your opportunity, then play consistently well in the seniors, only to get dropped for someone whose had one hot game in the reserves against ordinary opposition.

Tom had a massive game against Eastlake, but I don't think that translates into finding an excuse to push him into the side. We know Tom can play and it's great that he's put in that exceptional effort. I'm sure we won't have to wait long to see him in the senior side.

I have always thought our mantra was you earn your spot and its yours to lose. LLoyd, Cunningham and Laidler have done everything asked of them and shouldn't lose their spot because one player has one big NEAFL game.

We very rarely make that many changes to the team after a shocking loss so why would we make three changes when the team is playing together so well?
I can't imagine there will be any changes other than Benny coming back in. Pyke needs weeks in the ressies and its tough on Mitchell but I just can't see Longmire fiddling with a winning formula that much, particularly for such a big game.

If Pyke is fit, he must play.

Absolute rubbish to play him in the reserves. Either he sits it out to recover properly or he plays seniors.

Also pretty tough to leave Mitchell out after his performance in the reserves. If that's not rewarded then nothing will be. It's not about wholesale changes, rather trying to get our best 22 together.

If Mitchell returns to the senior team (probably at the expense of Lloyd) it won't be on the back on one big NEAFL game. It will be because he spent last year showing just how valuable a senior player he can be, despite his inexperience, and because his game last weekend has proven he is back to the required fitness level. Yes, it might be tough on Lloyd but, if it happens, he'll just need to put his head down and make sure he's still at the front of the queue when another opportunity arises later in the year. I have little doubt he'll do just that.
