That's why his hitouts to advantage are usually well in favour of the opposition. His hands are not good and his decision making is poor. He had 3 years in the Richmond system, and I would think he have thought he'd be at a higher level in these areas than he shows.

He deserves the plaudits he gets for his effort and workrate and it makes up for a lot of his shortcomings. But the fact is, his skills are not good.
Derickx does still has a lot to learn but he actually hasn't played a lot of football given how much time he has lost through injury before coming to the Swans. If he remains healthy with us, the Swans' drafting team may have done it again.

At age 18, he broke both the tibia and fibula in his leg in a tackle and missed nearly two years of football. In his first year at Richmond he missed the whole season with a broken ankle, then in his third (last) year he broke his wrist twice.

Mitchell plays mainly as an inside midfielder, no?

If I'd drop anyone for Mitchell and McGlynn it would be either Cunningham, B. Jack or Lloyd.

Harsh exclusions. I almost want injuries to make the decisions easier. We have absolutely amazing depth at the moment.

Biggs definitely deserves another run in the firsts based solely on his stats and performance under pressure in the 2013 finals.

Furthermore, I think Pyke should be eased back into the side. Derickxxkasjksdsdskjffd is doing his job at the moment. Pyke much better... but for some reason I think I can see an injury coming on for Derickxskdjksh later in the season. Seems to happen with our big men.

Also... as much as it pains me... maybe Goodes needs a rest in the reserves too?

I think Goodes need a big stage, high pressure game to work his magic! Geelong at the SCG could not be more perfect!

It's indigenous round. Goodes will want to play.

Thankfully, I'll be able to attend this game live, so there will be a temporary reprieve from these bozos.
I think Glen Mitchell is on the long term injury list with depression.

Mitchell having 64 ouches in the NEAFL is quite amazing!!!! never heard of anything like it! I agree that a week in the seconds would be good for Pyke. So I am thinking out is B Jack and Cunningham , Laidler and in is Mitchell, Biggs and Mcglynn.

I don't normally play team changes, but I'd bring in Mitchell for a jack... either Lloyd or brandon.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I think 64 touches demands a recall, even against NEAFL standard opposition....

I'd drop BJ and Lloyd for Mitchell and McGlynn, it's a no brainer in terms of team strength at this stage. Jack has been mildly disappointing and whilst Lloyd doesn't deserve to be dropped it won't do him any harm.

It's all good from a depth position, I'd hate to be playing the magoos these days

Yes. he makes bad disposal errors from time to time, and they can cost the team, but for me he more than makes up for this with his courage, work-rate, excellent overhead marking for his height, and decent pace.

I don't think the team needs a dedicated small forward. So many of our midfielders are good around goal, whether playing as forward or just drifting down there at stoppages, that Longmire can just rotate them, either within matches or different primary roles for different games. That just gives more depth in midfield rotations.
I couldn't agree more Liz. Ben has been great this year. And I was calling for him to make way for a younger player during the pre season. Glad I was wrong. He has hit contests really hard all year. I can put up with errors, when he brings that attitude and commitment. I don't think there is such a thing as a small forward anymore. As I said in a previous post, there are 2 defenders, 2 forwards and the rest are 'midfielders' required to work at both ends of the ground.

I can think of 64 reasons for a change.

Goodes - rested and Mitchell in and BJ is out, for Pyke.

Gee we have some good depth when you consider these tough changes + ROK, LRT and Rohan in the reserves.

We very rarely make that many changes to the team after a shocking loss so why would we make three changes when the team is playing together so well?
I can't imagine there will be any changes other than Benny coming back in. Pyke needs weeks in the ressies and its tough on Mitchell but I just can't see Longmire fiddling with a winning formula that much, particularly for such a big game.
