Just a comment on last nights game. After the siren the camera went to David Koch in the crowd , who applauded, despite his obvious disappointment . I though it was touch of class from Kochie. Couldn't see Eddie doing that after losing a prelim by 3 points.

He had to be proud of his boys. They almost pulled it off.

I think they were taking the mick out of Eddie with that.
I don't get to see him in Fox very often, but jeepers, he looks as though he has put on a few kegs over the last few years. I reckon Bucks isn't pushing them as hard as MM.

Fair dinkum ... it has become so boring ... not to mention unprofessional ... can we generate a petition to Foxtel to get rid of this fool or we turn off! Not offering to organise but someone may be suffiently moved to do so ... I hope!

Great article in today's Herald Sun. By Jon Ralph, it's headed "Harsh to pick on Swans." (Sorry - couldn't find a link to the article although that doesn't mean one doesn't exist!)

The article talks briefly about COLA and us having a bit of extra money to throw around but attributes our success to the fact that the Swans have "been braver and smarter and recruited better."

I have emailed the journo thanking him for a reasoned and sensible assessment of our 2014 performance.

            Hope McGuire read it!

That article is a big deal because Jon Ralph usually doesn't mind sticking the boot into us. Maybe it's turning.. sloowwly

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I get the feeling that the worm is turning. (Photo opportunity...Over to you Lud.)

Just in the last few days there has been Lynchies article, one by Ashley Browne ' the team that Horse built'(a poor article with some truth), and the one by Ralph.

The sentiment is building and we can expect many of the other lazy journo's to jump on board and start making similar comments, as they do with most issues.

Maybe everyone just hates the poos and wees so much that we've become the lesser of two evils. Either way, I'll trade being liked by neutrals for another premiership or two.

Eddie was actually really complementary of the swans on his show the other night, particularly Goodesy! He even congratulated Andrew Pridham! Perhaps some of those complaints letters you've all been sending to Fox have made it through to the top.

                        Here's the Jon Ralph story:

Sydney might have had more money, but they have also been braver than their rivals, smarter than their rivals, better recruiters than their rivals.
If Sydney was a cosseted expansion club with a thousand high draft picks then handed another huge advantage the bile would be vindicated. But if you are one of the few who haven't made up your mind, consider this list build.

Consider how many top-10 draft picks Sydney had on its list before it added the Bondi Billionaires in Kurt Tippett and Lance Franklin. Two.

Sydney?s list built on low draft picks, rookies and clever trades

On the Superfooty podcast this am Ralph said Longmire was the most under-rated coach in the league. He's a fan.

We've got 4 1st round picks in our side, 3 in the top 10. Hawthorn have 10 1st rounders including 7 top 10 picks. Maybe someone should tell Eddie. We know how much he loves getting his facts right.

Congrats to Hawthorn for how they've managed to snag some of the very best talent in the country without the benefit of the COLA. Maybe that shows how little the COLA counts for. Part of it was sinking to the bottom and getting priority picks. Maybe they should be labeled the Priority Pick Hawks or shortened the Priority Pxicks. It's the BBs v. the PPs

We had to do it the hard way. I suppose we deserve to be criticised for not having the benefits of a mega fan base or being situated in the home of footy. Hardly any of our players even get a stint on The Footy Show. What kind of team is that?

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Melbourne and Carlton have a gazillion high-draft picks and they're rubbish. Likewise Gold Coast. What the Swans have shown is you can build a team out of smart list management, clever recruitment and player development. Good to see the penny is dropping for some of the pundits.

Ive just twittered the article. Spot on.

How much salary cap goes into Kinnear Beatson and Ricky Barham? Its not enough.
