Roughly 100 points assuming we don't improve or reduce our percentage much today.

    I think.
    Cheers.

So based on that calculation above, and after today's results, the hawks will need to win by 115 points next week. I like those odds.

Finishing on the top may be to our detriment though, seeing as how Geelong is probably an easier side to face than Freo or Port. I guess we may face Geelong eventually in the Preliminary anyway.

It is amazing what you learn as you go through life.

I have followed Aussie Rules for a long time and until yesterday didn't realize that there was an actual trophy for the minor premier.

Who would everyone rather play in week 1?

I think Geelong are clearly the weakest team in the top 5 and would love to get them first up but then again I'd be equally happy to get them in a prelim as well,

So of the more likely match-ups, I'd probably prefer to play Port than Freo...mainly due to the back to back travel factor they'd face...tough ask for a young team. But in saying that if they do beat Freo they will be absolutely brimming with confidence!

Something about Freo scares me...that qualifying final at the cattery last year was pretty incredible and their win against the Hawks last weekend wasn't too shabby either.

Yup, the Dr William McClelland trophy, recognising the former Melbourne player & VFL administrator (& medical Dr). It possibly had more VFL significance back when each club had seniors, reserves & U19s, as the final standings of all 3 at the end of the home & away season determined the McClelland trophy winner

And here I was thinking RWO was the place to go for ALL my AFL info.

Don't believe winning the trophy is worth a cracker. AFL prizemoney is determined after the finals series.

Another interesting statistic. After yesterdays win we have just had our most successful season ever. Previous best was 1996 where we had 16 wins 5 losses and a draw, for 66 points earned in the home and away season, and top spot on the ladder. We currently have 68 points. Have never in any season before had 17 wins in a season. Could potentially have 18.

I'm sure no team wants to be seen holding on to (or even close to) any kind of trophy before the finals.

After tonight, my calculations are that a loss to Richmond by 21 points 79-100 would still see us get the minor premiership, 22 points 78-100 would see us finish second. The points tolerance, as usual, becomes proportionately (slightly) less in a lower scoring game, and higher in a higher scoring game. Not that anyone other than statisticians should be thinking about it.

How do we nail 86 tackles and lose the game? We won the tackle count by over 30 tackles.

Happy to see Mitchell lay 12 tackles. Parker was impressive.

Rampe looked good on Reiwalt. I wonder if he is the next Leo Barry. I would be playing Rampe on Pavlich.

Same here!!! I really wanted to vent during the game.

Can't believe we finished on top after the start we had to the year ????.

The reports are that we are playing Saturday afternoon. Yep confirmed 2:45pm start.

By the way can I just say I hate ANZ Stadium. That surface is a disgrace.

We were sluggish and timid early, warmed to the contest, got close and played it out.... without too much conviction.

I don't like the idea of flirting with form...But given the circumstance and next weeks 'in's'...I'm happy with tonights wash up.

And yes, the surface at Homebush is appalling, the AFL should demand better, and if that can't be guaranteed....then back to the SCG
