Why not catch the train from Chatswood? You won't have to deal with the traffic then

On Saturday I had to get to the game from Chatswood. The traffic was so bad that I decided against fighting our way through it to get dropped at the station and caught the bus on Fullers Rd instead. I had to stand the whole way while checking my watch as it looked like an hour would not be enough to get there for first bounce. Fortunately, I made it with minutes to spare.

Catch the train.

It is definitely an option but I generally don't like crowded peak hour trains and there is a bus stop 100 yards from my parents' place.

You're going against the peak flow Chatswood to Central and then there are dedicated trains to Homebush (limited stops, no peak passengers). There's no way the bus is a better option even if it takes you an extra 10-20 minutes to get the station.

Yeh that is true Nico - its always better to be safe than sorry in these situations, but I do fear that it could also lead to a costly mistake at a key time in upcoming games. When it is all on the line, it could only take one defensive error like that to decide a Preliminary or Grand Final.

Whilst there were a few errors, namely Rohan's 2 and Kennedy's 2, the one the really annoyed me the most was Pav's toe poke.
We had 3 players there, one of them should have dived on it, or done something else.
I would hope they would show more desperation in a GF.

That was the other one I had forgotten about. With 3 of them around it, I thought one of them would surely get there, or at least do more to impede Pav's chances of getting to the ball.

No doubt we are saving some of the 1%ers for later on, but it was sloppy play all around.

I think you might be right. Are train tickets free as well as the buses?

I want Gaz to play. Yes, the initial clangers were indeed horrendous, but it's surely not hard to get the idea that when Ted is contesting with Pav (or whoever), you don't join in, you move goalside. Mind you, I often find myself wondering (and occasionally yelling at the TV) where the crumbers are.

Gaz improved as the game progressed. I would not like to be without his pace, his determination and his devastating tackling. He will turn out to be a great big occasion player.

I've never heard anyone explain if the run and bounce rule is 15 from the point of possession measured in a direct line or 15 over the ground in total regardless of direction. But I have never seen it called for covering a lot of ground but not going very far from the start.

This from the 2013 rules - so it it could be something different by now (was Eddy happy with it last year?)

15.2.2 remaining in Possession and Bouncing the football
b) Where a Player is moving whilst in possession of the football, the Player must bounce or touch the football on the ground at least once every 15 metres, irrespective of whether such Player is running in a straight line or otherwise. For the purposes of this Law, a Player shall be deemed to be in possession of the football during
the period when the Player handballs the football to themself and regains possession without the football touching the ground.

Gaz did a little S curve run which might have put him a few centimetres over, but Jetta's run in the 2012 Pelim agin Collingwood was 4 bounces over 100 metres!

Without those very un-Swans like turnover goals we would have really pantsed them.

I know every minute I spend on BigFooty is a wasted minute but that Swans v Freo thread on the general AFL discussion board is ridiculous. Hawthorn and Freo supporters both saying we didn't play well at all and that we didn't deserve to win etc. etc. Surprisingly it's Geelong supporters and other Melb based clubs sticking up for us. The hate from West Coast and Adelaide fans is really quite surprising but I guess it has to do with how easily we beat West Coast these days and the fact that Tippo is wearing red and white instead of that horrid Adelaide tri-colour.

Five players back from injury. The whole mob hadn't played with them for up to five weeks. It took a while but the rhythm clicked in, and then it was ok. As Shaw said, the kids make mistakes, but after a time they make fewer and fewer. Shaw will make a great development coach. Gaz will be a great player.

While we're all having a whinge and filling in the next couple of weeks.......what WAS dear Goodesy thinking, when he faffed around in front of the goal-posts in the first quarter? And didn't kick the ball? In all of my 56 footy watching years, I don't think I've EVER been so astounded.
