    Swans v Dockers QF1

For a lot of that game he played on Mayne/Walters/Ballantyne as well. He did alright considering.

But definitely needs to do more with the ball coming out. Hopefully with a bit of confidence and game time that will help. He's instinctively an attacking player so not easy.

I thought the call on Rohan running too far was correct, albeit close. But I noticed later in the game (I think) Lee Spurr ran even further without bouncing the ball, except that he more or less ran around in circles, but I'm fairly certain it was more than 15 metres if you added up the total distance. I've never heard anyone explain if the run and bounce rule is 15 from the point of possession measured in a direct line or 15 over the ground in total regardless of direction. But I have never seen it called for covering a lot of ground but not going very far from the start.

Rohan is a very offensively minded player, which is great, but needs to realise that in certain positions on the ground you need to be a bit safer in how you play the situation. There's every reason for Rohan to feel confident that the can kick the ball where he wants, but for some reason it just didn't come off yesterday. Maybe Nick Davis was preoccupied help Buddy out so Gaz took his kicking lessons from Rhyce Shaw last week.

Yeah I remember that, shades of Tadhg. He did that a few years back.

I love Gaz's spirit. He kept taking the game on.

My only concern with him is his reckless, indiscriminate, defensive spoiling.

It cost us 1 goal, and could of cost more.

On 3 occasions our defender had things covered, but he attacked the contest front on, when he should of stood off and collected the crumbs.

For these final/s coming up, I'd prefer to see him further up the ground.

I'm so glad we have the week off. Finals footy is emotionally draining!

Good news that Smithy just had cramp. Didn't want to lose both him and Mal.

I don't know whether I'm biased but there was outrage at the number of free kicks we were awarded. I don't remember seeing anything paid to us that was soft. I will admit that there were a couple of high tackles and HTB decisions missed for Freo.

The one that stands out for me what when Ted was trying to spoil Pav around the 50 arc and Gaz came to help instead of positioning himself goalside, which led to an easy goal.

I hope Gaz is a quick learner.

Unfortunately Finals are not where you learn to kick ,spoil, position yourself or handball under pressure, Gaz had a shocker ! Against Hawthorn the goals he created for the opposition might have cost us the game or a GF, Its too late to experiment.its too late for sentiment! IMO Mitchell ,a magnificent ball getter and accurate kick would be far better value and keep Reid in the backlines to help Ted. Wild reckless defence just leaks goals to the opposition.

We have struggled all year for proper communication in the backline - and it hasn't solely been Rohan spoiling when there has been no need to.

We can't afford some of the costly mistakes we made against Freo in the Prelim though - Goodesy had a couple, Tippett with that miss from the goal square, Rohan's couple of errors, Kennedy's errant kick in the backline. We need to cut those out very quickly.

so the question is can Gaz improve from his mistakes against Freeo and be the man for the next game?

                    yes he can i believe

Going to be extremely difficult to find only 3 players for the TLM
Pyke,Smith,Parker,Hanners and McGlynn all deserve some love.
Someone that nobody has mentioned is Harry. Kept the dangerous Hill out of the game. Was impressed with his four qtr effort

                        No. It will be worse.

In 2012 the bus ride from Chatswood was ridiculously painful and took over an hour and a half. It was almost an hour from Top Ryde. That area of Sydney is always grid-locked on a Friday afternoon.

I am planning on coming up for the prelim and will be getting on a bus at Chatswood as early as possible to avoid the frustration of wondering if I'll get there before first bounce.

But we are the best defence in the comp. I think it is an average of 69 points against per game.

Why not catch the train from Chatswood? You won't have to deal with the traffic then

Yeh that is true Nico - its always better to be safe than sorry in these situations, but I do fear that it could also lead to a costly mistake at a key time in upcoming games. When it is all on the line, it could only take one defensive error like that to decide a Preliminary or Grand Final.

Spot on. Traffic in Sydney is a nightmare at the best of times. Events make it worse. If you can use a train, take it. Even if it seems to go out of the way a bit (ie via the city).
