The turning point for me was that dropped goal square mark by Tabbaner. What a gift. The game would have been different if he had held that.

Pyke looked very fresh after a week off. He was covering the ground very well.

Rohan made a few mistakes but I like him taking the game on.

Tippett is at his fittest of the season and can be relied upon to give relief in the ruck.

Mglynn, Bird and Kennedy will be better for the run. They now have two weeks of training to be totally ready for the preliminary final.

Lloyd was always composed when he needed to be.

So true fans are willing to be taken advantage of & pay through the nose for:
      *overpriced tickets;
*a crap venue with a crap surface; &
*crap mid strength beer & terrible food,
irrespective of whatever else is going on in their personal or family life?

We all support our teams in our own ways & as long as your not a dick about it that's fine by me.

Goodes is slowing down for certain. But I trust the coaches to know and do the best thing by the team in order to maximise our chances of winning.

His offensive efforts are fine because he keeps opposition defences occupied but honestly his defensive efforts are pretty lame - maybe that's the operative word. He really doesn't give chase and has one of the lowest tackle counts in the club - 6 tackles in the last four games. I hope it's because of his body and not effort.

Goodes played well. Really to come out with a win when our key playmaker malceski went down was an exceptional effort.

I think with tippet doing more ruckwork, goodes allows us to keep two key forwards on the ground.

I wouldn't say that we are carrying him, but it is true that he is more of a cameo player these days. He missed a few good opportunities today, but often takes them and can make a big impact. Think it would be best for him to retire after the season.

I really think we won that game in the second quarter - it wasn't pretty but Freo really took it up to us and we still managed to go into the half time break ahead. I think we absorbed a hell of a lot of pressure then which gave us the confidence that we could stand toe to toe with them and fight it out. The way we played out the second half was pleasing (except for the first 2 minutes of the 4th quarter)....

The SCG/ANZ thread is closed and I'm not game to open another one, but it's been heard on the radio that NRL will have dibs on ANZ over the AFL. Hopefully that's true and we get an SCG prelim

Did anyone see on Foxtel when Parker was being interviewed and Shaw walked passed only wearing a towel?? Lucky it didn't drop!

I don't think I've dug a first year player like I do Lloyd since Hannebery

Technically not a first year player but I get you drift. Criminally under appreciated by the general AFL community

Judging from the NRL ladder, providing that Panthers win on Monday, there will be 2 SF's the same week as our PF, which means that there is quite a possibility that we could play the PF at the SCG, if NRL demands playing their both games at ANZ Stadium.

No. Official tweet by Patrick Keane @AFL_PKeane announced PF games:

Wk3 Finals Fixture: Fri 19/9; Prelim 1 - Syd v winner 2nd semi at ANZ, 7.50pm Sat 20/9; Prelim 2- Haw v winner 1st semi at MCG, time tbc.

We got Fri night because we came first on the ladder.
