I can see the role Longmire has given him and how he's executing it. I liked Tippett's ruck work too, very good body strength and some decent taps.

Yes I'll be travelling from work in the city so will be on the train. I'd still say the traffic on the roads yesterday was worse though because King Georges Road is always a mess on Saturday from Beverly Hills to Greenacre, and was again. The Flemington markets traffic then brought us all to a standstill again.
There were accidents/breakdowns for us both going to and leaving the game on King Georges Rd. Will be allowing plenty of time in a couple of weeks to get there, being Friday peak hour and all as well.

Agreed, Ernie. "Rohan the Defender" is still a work-in-progress and, while he's made some great steps forward, you don't take a work-in-progress into a do or die preliminary final.

Regarding the sub I think Goodes would be a decent selection. He could be a dangerous weapon thrown against a tiring opposition defence and in terms of his leadership in the crunch minutes.

"Franklin stepped up to kick two important goals in the last term. The first, at the four-minute mark with the Swans' lead reduced to 10 points following two consecutive Freo goals, came after Franklin gathered the footy well outside 50 and launched a massive drop punt that sailed over the goal umpire's hat."

Did these guys actually watch the game?

For those in Melbourne listen to SEN after 12 as Smith is going to be on. Will be interested in what he has to say. I'm sure he will say he is fine ??.

We haven't had a good run with hammies this year!

Smith interviewed on ABC radio today. Just cramp. He's fine today.

Rohan played a role he has only played for a few weeks. He will learn a huge amount from that game and I'd hate to see him moved. I'm sure he'll get it right, its the perfect job for him.

MCS you are a legend for making the trip to Sydney so regularly to watch the Swans.

Do you have family or friends that you stay with in Sydney or is it 4 hours up and 4 hours back on the same playing day?

Nope we do it up and back unless we are going to something else in Sydney in the same trip.

I have a mate from work that comes along most of the time and (my gradually getting hooked - not bad for a British lass ) girlfriend as well, so we share the driving round which helps a lot. For a few years though I did a lot of trips up and back myself - I used to stop at Sutton Forest and have a good kip for an hour on the way home usually.

Saturday was good as it was a day game so we got home at a good time, but it'll be a late one for the Prelim Final. Looks like I'll be driving to Melbourne for the Granny if we make it and I can get my friend a ticket - as flights from Canberra are already absurdly dear, and my mate only has a category 3 membership (so won't know till GF week if we can get him a ticket or not).

There are plenty of other swans that travel just as far as me (R1 is one that goes up the highway as well), and probably do far more games than I do - we all do it for the our love of the boys in Red and White.

Great stuff. I went to the Melbourne V Swans game at Manuka in 2009 and thought that Manuka was a great little oval. I'm hoping that for you and the other Canberra guys that the Swans play some games there over the next couple of seasons.

I get why they don't play GWS vs Swans at Manuka, but if anyone was serious about getting sellouts at Manuka, and therefore getting some sort of return for the ACT Government putting ~2.5 million a year in for 3 games, surely that match should happen in Canberra fairly regularly. I loved it when we used to get 1 or 2 away games a season down here - Manuka is a great oval to watch footy at (when its not a sandpit) and a proper old fashioned day out at the footy.

Hopefully once he gets a few things going his way he'll be right.

Lots of people have "one of those games".
Given his games in previous weeks I hope he'll get on a roll.

He got pinged for running too far (close call) and then shanked a few. Made worse because they scored but Joey turned over two for two goals as well. His defence was pretty damn good.
