Marsh has a really impressive highlight reel. He's quick, he's strong, he can take a strong mark and he can kick a long way. Yet despite all of this he often looks all at sea on the footy field. His disposal is erratic and his decision making is not up to AFL standard, even given his age. But perhaps the coaching staff think they may be able to fix that up. In any case, he is far from safe from a delisting. He was probably thought of as the best of the trio that included Lockyer and Dick. We may just be waiting to see how the trade period goes and determine if he's worth retaining after that.

If I don't give a player with 'electric' pace the benefit of the doubt, then I have no credibility at all.

Now Malceski is gone I would have thought that Biggs would consider staying in Sydney. I place him ahead of Jones at the moment. Unless the plan is:
Out: Malceski, In: Mitchell, Move McVeigh to HBF.

Pick 39 and Membrey for pick 22 from St Kilda would be a good result, though our form seems to better with picks in the 30's than the 20's.

                The Swans currently hold picks 18 (Heeney), 38 (Hiscox), 39, 58, 76 (Davis), 94, 112 and 130 in next month's AFL Draft.

what do people think of potentially picking up mitch robinson (just a though, no actual rumours as yet). he did grow up supporting the swans and is a bit of a hard nut. yes, he is a douche, but could be useful to add depth

I'd think that packaging Membrey and Biggs with Pick 39 for Pick 22 is a fair trade for both parties.

It gives the Saints two young players ready for senior footy and they still keep the Number 1 PSD pick which I reckon they wish to keep up their sleeves.

As for us, I'd like to see us go for two long term key defensive prospects with our second round draft picks plus the three academy lads. Any cash saved by Malceski leaving we should keep in the kitty to front end a couple of re-signings next year. We'll be under a lot of pressure in 2-3 years time so best to plan ahead. Mind you there is no way Tippet is earning his $1m a year to date so we will have an extra mil a year from 2017...

I think it depends on whether the Swans use one or two more live picks in the draft. If they only use one more live pick then he could be a chance.

I would only take him as a delisted free agent. Rhyce Shaw got himself into plenty of trouble before the Swans turned him around.

He could ad some value with his hardness and thirst for a tackle.

Id be pretty surprised if, given the way Tippett's knees have gone so far, if he plays on past 2016 anyway. Despite the rumblings from the rest of the league, I think we are, for want of a golf term, a number of shots over par with Tippett so far. No doubting his ability and quality, but he hasn't been on the park consistently enough so far. Hopefully 2015 will mark a change in relation to that.

I think this now settles the open issues regarding other player transfers. We have Membrey, Biggs, picks 39 and 58 to play with. I would be trying to hold on to #39 and target STK pick 22 in exchange for Membrey, Biggs and #58. Both players could walk right into the Saints lineup, so it should work for them and I think it works for us as well. There is barely any hope for us getting into the 1st round, and this is the next best thing.

With Biggs and Membrey likely to be leaving, it shores up the probability that Dan Robinson will get another year, probably on the rookie list. This fits into the strategy of holding on to local talent and letting the others go. It's a smart strategy in the long run. Dan showed a lot of versatility last season. He was given big tagging roles toward the end of the season and did very well. He's no Isaac Heeney, but he's a good all around player that does a lot of things well.
why are we wanting to offload Biggs so readily - in his limited games he has always performed (and i would have left him in side at expense of Shaw). He uses the ball well and with some consistent game time could very well be our next Malceski

I'd be tempted to turn that Pick 1 into a first rounder by trading Sam Reid but I do believe he deserves another chance.

By any stretch he is in the last chance saloon but I think he needs to be turned into a specialist defender for next year and have his future based on his performance. Because as a key forward, rarely has a player promised so much but delivered so little....

Yeah, I like the idea. There's talk that he may end up being delisted, so a late pick at this stage may do the job.

He can play and he has that hard edge about his game style that would be a good addition to our current crop.

The big question is, can he stay out of trouble and knuckle down.

If successful, it would reinforce the view, that the quality of the Swans culture can draw the best out of people.

But it's a definite gamble, and I'm not sure Horse is much of a gambler.

I've always a bit of a fan of Robbo's - I think it's because he is so far off being the normal AFL player - he's hard-as, prone to more than the odd brain explosion, goes Iike a bull at a gate and just seems pretty much a coaches nightmare. But if anyone can harness him it'd be us.....
