Did anyone happen to catch the Academy game on Friday night?

Pretty positive result, haven't heard of any of the standout players from the report on the website but any info on them would be handy/appreciated.

The highlights of the game intertwined with the Micky O interview were far superior to any footage the website has carried of the intraclub game (or any other footage of training thus far this season).

You mean you don't appreciate the Swan's fancy new patented Cheeseclothvision?? You know too much about football and not enough about art. Auteur!

I was at a junior club function on the weekend and Michael O'Loughlin was there and made some interesting comments about the academy.
"Callum Mills is a gun and if he stays injury free he will end up as captain of the Swans."
"Whilst the current batch of 16-18 year olds are good, the batch of 11-12 year olds are much better because they have learnt their skills earlier."
So look out in 10 years time.

Is it too much to hope for that wretched Collingwood president has retired by then?

Just wow. And that I guess is the purpose of the Academies, growing the talent pool for all clubs (but also creating a local talent stream for the Northern clubs as well).

At least we know his spots at Collingwood. In 10 years time he may have a wider ranging role in society that impacts more of our lives than football. "Be careful what you wish for, you may get it".

"Careful now Eddie. That red button doesn't just take out the Swans."
"Take your hand off the button and I promise to change the National Anthem to Collingwood Forever."
"Yes, and Pussy Riot can appear on the Footy Show."
"You drive a hard bargain, Eddie, but there's nothing I can do about Josh Dunkley."

Bound for Glory has small write-ups on Josh Dunkley and Jesse Maxfield...worth a read.

It assists us if there are plenty of F-S available at other clubs as that will be making those teams lose ND points to secure them, hopefully keeping them away from bidding up our F-S and Academy targets.

Sweating on the final version of the bidding process, specifically the onerous points for highly rated talent as well as the discounts that will apply.

He is a good friend of Gerry Ryan of Jayco fame, so of course he is going to pump up the industry. Not that he necessarily knows anything about the industry.

From all reports it will be pretty much identical to the version that has already been submitted, with perhaps the only difference being the percentage discounts...it sounds as if Tom Harley wants that 25% Academy discount upped by at least 5%
