All the AFL has done has made Kinnear work a little bit harder this year.
The man is a recruiting genius. He's probably got his eyes on bringing Tony Armstrong back.
    You just never know.
I totally trust that anyone Kinnear picks, will be worthy of becoming a swan.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I like that except that I'd stay clear of Kreuzer. We would use the pick for Jetta and the second round pick on Mills.

It is all still incredibly restrictive but I can only imagine that the club has decided that this doesn't overly affect us and also that our cap space is so tight that one player in was all we would do anyway...

I just think we'll bring in another ruckman which will give us SIX of the bloody things if you count Tippo - problem is that we may need KT as a FPF and Pyke and Tom Dx won't cut it next year and Nanka and Sam may not quite be ready.

2017 should see our ruck stocks stabilise, assuming KT re-signs with KT and our new signing being #1 and 2 and with Nankervis and Naismith as genuine understudies
My understanding is that we can bring in as many players as we want under the $350k but can only bring in a maximum of one player between $350-$450k provided we trade out a player of comparable value.

He's a free agent, hence our interest as we won't have anything to trade with once Mills is dealt with

Unless we get a first rounder for Jetta...

On big footy from a guy who works for AFL NSW in Sydney had some comments, summarized:

"An offer is definitely in place (Talia) and its in the ballpark of 1.2 over 3-4 years. Fighting Adelaide for him. They are suggesting the trade could come from a three way with Jetta to WCE.

He's got 2 years and 700k on the table at the dogs but he's seemingly rejected that.

Big $$ for a largely unproven fullback."

Grain of salt and all that

Hampton provides a run and carry style game close in description to the Shaw style, whilst Newman (at least in my limited viewings) appears to be more in your Laidler/Mattner style of player.

As for the forwards you talk about - Hiscox in my book is still a fair way off (despite getting named as an emergency a couple of times), Rose is a keeper but very, very raw, BJ is still on the edge (although he showed good glimpses at the end of the season) and I'm in the far from convinced about Towers (despite a good first final). None of them appear to be anywhere near a lock on for the first 22 in 2016. I can't see Rohan being shifted to Defence any time soon to be honest on the account of several of them making it.

And then there is likely to be space made in the forward line as Heeney will sure shift to more time in the middle next year. Lots of interesting permutations to be considered for 2016.
I am thinking much the same way as you, mcs. Agree with your comments about Hiscox, Rose, BJ, Rohan. Agree Heeney will be shifted to the midfield but not sure how soon. It's looking like Towers may take Goodes' spot in the forward line.

There's no reason to move Gazza to defence. Gazza is great forward because of the defensive pressure he can apply there. He is also a decent (and long) kick for goal. His distribution and ball use running out of defence is perhaps not there yet - but anyway he gets to do that when we rebound.

I'm with you on this one, Annie. I have huge faith in our list managers and recruiters. They know what they're doing.

Albeit they don't always get completely free reign to assemble the best team possible. I'm sure that if the decision had been based purely on football we wouldn't have offered Buddy the contract we did, great as he is. Don't get me wrong - I have been absolutely loving what Buddy has brought to the table. And it has clearly been a boon to our membership numbers and crowds and column inches written etc. But the cost has also been high and the length of the contract makes it a big risk. Not a bad decision but nor one based on football factors alone. I suspect Kinnear would not have done that deal if it had not been decided by higher ups.

The only reason that Buddy's contract is as long as it is, is because the poos and wees are a pack of mean, spiteful and nasty people.
THEY were the ones that offered Buddy the 10 year contract... if we wanted him, we had to match it.
Such is the way of the free-trade agreement.

That is false - Hawks capped there contract offering at 5 years. The 9 year deal is the reason the swans are having all these other issues with the AFL now as they are against long term deals (they weren't impressed with the Boyd deal at the Bulldogs either and that looks like turning very sour).

Adelaide is probably in the box seat regarding Michael Talia. They should be cashed up if Dangerfield goes and he can join his brother at the club.

Brisbane would be another place to look for a young KPD. Harris Andrews emerged as a future star this year and he is still so young. They will be getting another 2 metre highly rated key defender in Eric Hipwood this year through the academy. They will also be drafting a top KPP in either Schache or Weitering. And they have another 3 good young KPDs in Gardiner, McStay and Justin Clarke. Despite their poor record this year, their key position stocks look pretty good going forward. I think Justin Clarke would be the one they would most likely let go. I like McStay as well, although I think they will want to keep him.

Given that Redden has stated he wants out and Aish may go as well, perhaps a swap of Clarke or McStay for Bird could be something worth considering by both clubs as it could be winner for both.

Just as well his name isn't McGo then. Sorry, I couldn't resist it, not at this time of the year.
